Last weekend I tried the Tour Spoon on an indoor launch monitor at GolfTown. I warmed up by hitting my OEM Stiff 15* Rocketballz 3W (non-tour) 260yds off a tee consistantly. (That's what I get outside too, so the monitor was working fine).

When I tried on the Tour Spoon (OEM Stiff, 13*), I was getting about 5 yards more, almost same flight, slightly lower ball spin.

IMHO if you try the tour Spoon, try the other RBZ 3 woods they have in stock at the same time. I was thinking about getting it as a 'driving' club, but if I'm only giving up +/- 5yds with the 15*, with same flight characteristics, I'll keep the 15*.

TM exceeding expectations...they weren't supposed to ship until Friday, but mine showed up today in my office. Talk about having a great after lunch surprise!

Although, I went with the TP RUL shaft in an XStiff model so I doubt there are many of those around. TM has outsold their expectations by 200% supposedly and they originally expected to outsell last year by 400%. That means they have outsold last year by 800% already. Crazy!

Finally, the difference between TP and non-TP is that the TP model comes with the upgraded TP shaft. It's probably noticeable for single digit players and below and our pro said it was worth the upgrade even though I didn't buy it from him so he didn't profit from the advice.

What does "spoon" refer to?
It is a 3 wood which used to be referred to as a "Spoon". Tour spoon refers to a lower loft 3 wood, in this case 13*

I picked one up here locally a week ago. The Tour Spoon is a rocket. I had a R9 tour 3 and the RBZ eats it alive. Had to adjust my R11 driver down a degree to have a gap. For the people asking about hitting it off the deck. I see no difference in hitting this vs a 14.5 off the fairway. That is just my $.02.

It feels pretty good. I like it better than the xcon 5. I still think its too light, but for a stock shaft it is descent.

Wow, what a revelation! I guess there is a reason that there was over 60 RBZ in play and as many or more by players on staffs other than TM. Maybe it is more than marketing?! Ya think!

Interesting thing is that this tech is actually a variation of the Nike compression channel, we all know about Adams and now TM. Theses are all patented techs so other companies will have to figure out a way to get the same result without the same technique for steel heads.....Nike is the only one with a chance in steel to give the overall distance and forgiveness of the RBZ a run until the others figure it out.
I tested a Ping i20 against my rbz tour 14.5 and no contest at all...ping is nice tho. The Ping driver is right thre withthe RBZ tho just not adjustable

you will have to do what I am doing and frantically look to upgrade your driver or just leave the thing at home. I got my spoon and am bombing it.
They should call it a Brassie really. Or is that next, the 12 degree version. Taylormade had the spoon many years ago, and was a great club, no very confusing back then. DSG steel.

I have the 14.5 degree RBZ Tour 3-Wood (TP version with x-stiff Matrix RUL 70 shaft) and it's almost too long! I'm htting it 265-275 yds off the ground with minimal effort, and can get out there another 5-10 yds if I really try to step on one. I can't imagine how far the 13 degree Tour Spoon would go! I say the Tour 3-Wood is almost too long, because I'm hitting the RBZ standard head 9.5 degree driver (TP version with x-stiff Matrix HD-6 shaft) easily 300+ yds. If I hit a decent drive, in order to use my 3-Wood on a par 5 it has to be at least 565-575 yds! I know it's not quite that simple in every case, as there are obviosly a lot of course variables (wind, elevation changes, etc.), but it does seem like I haven't had a lot of opportunities to hit 3-wood since I put the RBZ's (also now have the RBZ Tour TP #3 hybrid) in the bag. I usually end up hitting the RBZ #3 hybrid (hit it 235-245 yds with a high draw) or a long iron. Also, a lot of holes that require a lay-up shot off the tee require a 260 yd or less club. I've heard that they may start offering an RBZ 17 degree Tour 4-Wood to the general public (already have it available to tour players). The smaller head and slightly more loft may be a better alternative to the Tour 3-Wood. At least for the courses I play on a regular basis! The RBZ's are a lot of fun!

Shad......that is exactly why I bought the RBZ 5 wood......... I've been considering the 3 wood, but I don't know if I would get much use out of it.

Get the 5 wood......

Tour 5 is a great club!!!
Have a little bit of a funny story.
Was at the local Golf Galaxy yesterday, and they were having the Nike Speed Trials. First thing I see is a "leaderboard" where the first name has +82 yards....
My question was, did the club he hit have a shaft or did he throw it? She didnt laugh...Lack of a sense of humor is so unattractive on a lady...Anyhow, they asked me to participate, and being the ho that I am, said sure.
I asked to go get my RBZ out of my car, and the guy was like, no I have one right here, stock stock....
Ok...Well, I know what my numbers are, even with the xcon 5. So, I actually went and grabbed the rbz 5 wood...to make it fair....
Asked him, are we doing carry or total? Total he said....
Dead cold, 3 swings with rbz 5 wood. 249, 242, 244.....Average of 245
3 swings with the Nike 3 wood. 247, 252, 232.....Average of 243.6 lets call it 244...

Anyhow, thought that was funny...One guy supposedly gained 82 yards, and a 5 wood beat out the 3...Club felt awesome, just didnt jet like wocketbarrs!!!!

Ive hit it, great club!! I also posted on here about the 15º 3wood or the 14.5º Tour 3. I bought the Tour 3 and bombed it 305yrds twice today. I rested my R11 the back nine and totally fell in love with the RBZ!! Check out my sig for WITB if you want to see what I use!! LOVE RBZ woods (cool)

Tour Spoon is just the 13º Strong 3 wood head in the "tour" model.

Also, do you plan on using the 13* head off the deck?

I hit the 13* today for the first time and it truly is unbelievable. A friend of mine owns one and I thought this thing has to be mostly hype. Nope, deserves all the good press it gets. It hit easy off the deck with good distance. Also hit it off the tee, close to my driver distance. It feels so well balanced and looks better at set up than I thought. I've never been crazy for the white heads, but it really didn't bother me when I hit it.

I may just have to break down and get one. Hate paying the price, but the damn bug bit me. I knew I shouldn't have hit it. russian_roulette.gif

The RBZ Tour spoon is actually smaller than the regular rbz wood. Tour spoon is only 171cc and the regular version is 197cc. I'm also looking for a mini driver. But this tour spoon is a little bit too small for my need.

Any thoughts?
Yes. Dont overthink it.. If you need a mini driver, get the 15* speed head.
If you think the tour heads look small, get the 15* speed head...
See where Im going here?
I have the tour, and the speed. Although I hit a draw by nature, the 15* speed head is in my bag.
Why? Because its awesome and I pound that thing like it owes me money.

Had a buddy who bought this a few weeks ago and was hitting it close to 300 off the tee.. Insane. Problem with that is, it no longer serves it's purpose as a 3-wood. If I'm playing a hole that I can't hit driver on, so I grab my 3-wood and it goes the same distance, whats the point? There's no utility in that, other than the fact that the 3-wood is a little more forgiving than a driver off the tee.

I would rather keep my R11s and keep piping it 250 when I don't need to bomb it any further than that. Just my opinion :)
