Who else besides TaylorMade makes a putter like this? I know Scotty has the JAT proto, that's just completely out of the budget, but I would love to know other manufacturers who have similar offerings...

Yeah, the XG #9 which I've had and not impressed by the SUPER-SOFT face on it...looking for something carbon steel or something else and heavier than Odysseys.

if you have time you can find a scotty cameron del mar 3.5. not super cheap but not expensive.

You can pick one up on ebay for around 300.00

 

I used to have the TM tp maranello version but that insert was way to inconsistent.

 

Once you go to a Cameron you will love it!!

 

 

I am thinking about getting my refinished

 

any suggestions either cameron or maybe black oxide for the III black.. Anyone have opinions or pics of finished putters from BOS..

I'll see if I can dig up some old pics. BOS is the cheapest I've found for 3X Black, but Tom does a greatone as well. So does Kevin. Tom and Kevin have pics on their Site.

It's not exactly the same, but you should check out the TP Mills Fleetwood too.

The TPA XVIII is the original. The DelMar 3.5 is SC's version, and the 8-02 TP is TM's.

 

Those 3 putters look pretty much identical. (Other than finish/inserts)

 

The Never Compromise and the Odyssey #9 are nearly flat on the back. Same silhouette, but not the same weighting. (I don't know about the Slighter's, Mills, Gauges, Bettinardi BB16's, too much $$$)

 

If you want to try one, I'd go for the TPA first. Smather a couple strips of tape on the bottom and it will have a similar weight as the DelMar 3.5. Nick Faldo won a few tournaments (Masters) with the TPA.

Almost forgot. The SC JAT and the Marenello 8.01 TP are almost the same. Nice putters. Just a bit "stubby" looking for me.

I've got a gorgeous TPA XVIII that I had refinished by Byron Morgan. It is going up for sale, very soon.

Very classy looking, I thought. I just can't put with a mallet.......or a heel shafted blade. If you know anyone looking for a sweet pair, the TPA XVIII and a TPA X, send them my way for a package deal. This turned out to be a very nice pair that would look awesome on anyone's wall or in the right bags. Just food for thought.

I have that TPA.

I also have a BB16H.

I loved that head style for such a long time. The BB16H was my first Bett. I've been hooked since. You just inspired me to take the BB16 out for a spin next time out.

I just got the maranello TP 8-02 to replace the JAT I sold and I am liking it better due to the fact the headweight is higher. The head is a bit smaller but I like the way it feels. I mean I loved the Jat but I am playing nowwhere near enough to justify keeping it and I got this maranello new of the bay for 70 bucks so I am pleased.
