Cool pics.

Was Smith still rocking old grooves on his wedges? Also interesting to see a 907 still in play since it is often perceived as one of the worst drivers ever,

Thanks for the pics, Wanamoisett is a great venue; the 3rd hole (short par 3) is considered by most as one of Donald Ross's best holes. And that says a lot.

I'll be rooting hard for Andrew Mason out of Huntingdon Valley CC in Pennsylvania. He won the Philly Amateur, Philly Open and the Pennsylvania Amateur last year. We used to loop at the same club outside Philly and he would drive me home occasionally!! At the time I had NO idea he had such game.

I'll trade someone a Pine Valley shirt for one of theses Ping Barrel flag headcovers...

Great pics! I have to agree with the above poster. I enjoy seeing the better Amateur's bags than the pros.

Funny thing about bags in these top amateur events: there are more expensive Camerons at these events than the PGA tour. Obviously, there are a lot of Camerons on tour but you also see a lot Odysseys (even on Titleist players like Stricker). You also see TMs, probably because they are paid to do so although you also see non TM staffers with TM putters. But at these top amateur events, it's almost like you need a Cameron for street-cred. Come on guys, I know Cameron makes nice putters, but don't be afraid to be a little different

In case you are wondering, I have owned over 8-10 Camerons, but now have gotten rid of them all as my two favorites now are the Odyssey Black i 7 and the Ping Carefree (my gamer)

Your argument doesn't make much sense....some pros play what works, others play what pays the bills. You can't look at the whole sample size of the pro tour and try to draw conclusions against the amateur circuit. You'd have to compare the pros who actually play what works vs the amateurs who play what works (all of them, right?) and there's no real way to do that.

The reason there's so many Camerons is because amateurs think he makes the best putters. A lot of pros agree with them. Draw conclusions now and you'll find that he probably makes the best putters, no?

I'm not trying to throw stones from a glass house here...check my sig and you'll see that I'm biased myself and shouldn't be drawing conclusions either ;)

Funny thing about the bags in these top amateur events: there are more expensive Camerons than in PGA tour events. Granted there are a lot of Camerons on tour, but you also see a ton Odysseys (even amongst Titleist Players like Stricker and Simpson uses an old Ping, also appears a lot of pros are trying to copy Luke Donald's success with the Odyssey 7). You also see a lot of TM putters, although that could be because they are paid by TM but you could also say some Titleist staffers are using Camerons because they are paid by Titleist. I know Cameron makes nice putters, but come on kids, don't be afraid to be a little different. It's almost like you need a Cameron for street cred at these events.

In case you are wondering, I've owned about a dozen Camerons but have gotten rid of all them as I have been super happy with the Ping Scottsdale Carefree since it came out. Back-up is Odyssey Black i 7, which i would probably love to if it wasn't for the Carefree.

interesting that similar to the pro-level, you see more G20 and G15s than i20s (or at least from the pics it seems that way). i'd hit both (and kept the i20) but i can see where if you play unforgiving courses the added forgiveness of the G series makes more sense than the added distance of the i series. where i play, i'm not as penalized for wayward shots so i went with the added distance that the i20 gave me over the G20.

My bigger problem with the I series has always been that I couldn't turn the ball over as well. They look awesome and I always wanted to game one but I always had to try to hit a hook just to hit a draw.

Yep I agree that my misses with the i20 is to the right, which is something I didn't have with the G20. But like I said, where I play im not penalized for it and rather have the extra 15 yards

For all that talking heads on Golf Channel chide young players these days for all having the same swing, e.g. Andy Zhang, I don't think I saw a single textbook swing in the gallery. Lots of homemades.

I'd love that AP2 712 deuce that curtis thompson from LSU has in the bag...tucked over on the left side. I don't think I've even seen a 712 2 iron in the pga pics. (there might have been one there tho)

TEE has some nic players irons but it's kind of random to see those irons in the bag...Woods I can understand but those? Whatever works

Thanks Greg!!
