The Ugly Putter Thread

The ugliest straight up is the bassackwards. The Nubbins is hands down the worst putter i've ever looked at and tried for Sh$%s n giggles. No feel whatsoever on it, too light also, i would never be able to tell how far the strike would make it go on a lag putt---and just ugly putter with tan rubber face insert color scheme--Bleccchh! I played with 5 guys that had Nubbins putters and all of them except one were horrifically bad putters. The guy that was an awesome putter, i had to ask why he liked it---the feel is awful as if rubber bands were smelted on the face to dampen and take away all feedback. He just said " Feels good to me." Different strokes for different folks, i guess.

That Beeline thing is pretty horrible too, some of these offerings are non-legal training aids, which i wouldn't classify as putters---but they sure are ugly!

I game this guy in silver and black. Unanimously, everyone I play with hates the way it looks. But can't find anything I make more putts with so it stays in the bag.

My twin used to play with the giant Ping Doc putter, 13" across or something ?, every time it came out we made beeping "satellite" noises

 

He used to also carry this hideous YES model with a bright yellow something on the back and we'd all shout "NO" when he rolled the ball

 

 

 

I was laughing so hard I had to explain to my wife, who was in another room.I want to play golf in this group, got room for a 4th. I'll bring this along. BTW I think the maximum head width is 7" which this model is. Are you sure your 13" comment wasn't influenced by seeing the p**** putter?

Mickelson used that ugly thing for some time. I don't know if he ever won any majors with it. I'm sure it is a great putter but that's not what this thread's about.

If you get the right combination of pieces, some of them can look pretty good. The #9 shapes are kind of cool to me. But I'm not a fan of most of the gaudy designs people keep coming up with.

I think it's mostly because they seem "pieced" together vs the polished one piece milled putters. But, that's what makes them different I guess. They're not for me, even the one you posted. But again, it's tough to be different and that's what makes them money.

The lines are actually cut into the putterhead an inch deep. Found this in my dads bag.
