what's your worst round?

Wasn't my worst score by far, but I shot an 80 while hitting 14 of 18 greens, and playing a left handed shot with a right handed club under sage brush. Best ball striking I've ever done in my life, and just horrifically bad putting. In my defense they had just plugged and sanded the greens and I had a rooster tail coming off my ball.

Today was horrible, I went to Trails of Frisco Course in Frisco, Texas, the weather was okay minus the 30+ winds. It was brutal, I hit my 3 wood on one whole.. Usually my 3 wood goes about 240ish.. It couldn't have gone more than 100-150 yards with the wind hitting it.. It was horrible.. Don't let you ball get up in the air, the wind takes it and throws it out of bounds.. I shot in the 100-110ish which is horrible as I am usually low 80s.

On a side note (somewhat) that course is set up stupid, a bunch of holes are set up right around the courses driving range, and the driving range uses both yellow and white balls... So after you tee off and you go to find your ball, there's balls everywhere on your fairway from the driving range!!! You don't have time to figure out which one was yours so you just drop.. Piss poor planning on whoever decided to set that up!

Went from 73 to 85 recently. I was reminded that rounds like that suggest character development. ;)

Any one else discouraged by the extreme lack of actual bad numbers on here? I thought i just had a bad round now I am convinced I just suck.

it's all relative. I've shot worse then 88 before obviously, when i started playing or played sparingly. But i've probably never felt worse then i did after my round last september. I can't believe i'm about to play my first round of 2013 and this thread still survives! Hopefully i'll play better in competition this year

I can't remember my score, but I do remember going through a complete dozen brand new Top Flite Magnas at a golf tournament on an executive course in the late 90s. Putter was literally the only club I wasn't afraid to hit. Shanks, water, OBs, woods, lost balls. It was my most painful and frustrating round. Probably the only time I've ever actually disliked golf.

  • 2 months later...

I finished par par for a 99 in my first real round in a good couple of years towards the end of 2008, that would be my highest ever score i imagine (well i probably shot more than that when i was 5 or 6 but you get the idea)

Last month I managed to shoot an 88 (+16) in the first round of my county amateur as a 5 index, finished double, par, bogey, par, quintuple

I'm sure I had a worse scores(especially when I was younger) but shot I 102 on my first round last season. I actually had to scramble and save a lot of shots to post that score. In defense I had not played more than once or twice a year or practiced at all over the previous dozen years (family responsibilities). Very frustrating but it actual got me to catch the golfing bug again and start working on my game...if for no other reason than my personal pride. I finally had time to play/practice and brought myself back down to shooting 80 a couple of times. Now this year I have hit 75, which is one shot of my best 18 on a par 72 course.
