My Favourite is the 2nd at Portsalon (Ireland)

A real risk & reward hole, the further you aim over the water the shorter the approach. Aim too far right and you are left with a blind second with water in-front of the green.

Those par 3's at pinnacle point look crazy good! Rugged but breathtaking!

18th hole at Millbrook Resort, par 5 reachable with a really good tee shot but 2nd shot is all or nothing over a small pond

8th pebble. 3 iron to 10 feet. Caddy says to lag it and take your par!!

1 number 10 at Arcadia Bluffs- teeing off from the bottom of a bluff, and staying down there
2 #4 (might be #3) Whistling Straights the long par 4

Ranger, you say you are a member of Kilarney? I played there about 12 years ago with a member, Joe O'Reilly who owned O'Reilly Tours and he was a wonderful gentleman. He flew over on the Concord in 1997 to play Congressional before the US Open, and he left after 9 holes cause he had to catch his plane back!

The course I remember with the most great holes is Cassique at Kiawah

I Can't pick just one. These aren't neccessarily the best looking holes, but the ones I could play over and over. The 7th at Ballyneal in particular has one of the best greens in the world allowing the hole, approaches and putts to be played dozens of different ways.

#16 cypress point. Jaw dropping. But 15, and 17 are also spectacular aswell.

Up until a few weeks ago it would have been 17th on the Old Course St Andrew's (never has a bogey felt so good!). Now it has to be the 15th on Wentworth's West course. Stroke index 4, 477 yards off the White tees, it is such a tough hole. I played the course a month back, probably for the first and last time (it's so expensive), and made a par with a driver, 3 wood, sand wedge from greenside bunker to 3 feet and made the putt. A great feeling and therefore it has to be my favourite hole. Colin

#1 Machrihanish and #2 at Royal Dornoch

Hard to pick a single hole, but one of my favorites is #14 at Chambers Bay. "Cape Fear" is a long sweeping downhill par 4 with a diagonal fairway that features a small bunker right in the middle. This bunker forces a decision: go left requires a long carry but yields a very short approach, or bail right and face a ~200 yard second shot. Fun to play!

Awesome hole, I like that shortish par four that works the same direction of #1 and slopes hard from right to left. Probably about hole #6 or 7

.....not an actual golf hole but ideally MY favorite golf hole would be a reachable par 4..

based on my current ability it would have to be shortish--not more than 300 yds.....unless it's downhill..

it would also have to have a good risk/reward feature and a breathtaking view..

....i will always approach such a hole with excitement and anticipation as the possibility of making a hole-in-one or an eagle on a

par 4 will make me want to play it again....and again...and again!!...........and again!


PS..the worse golf holes for me are 3-shot par 5s!!....not those that make you play for position but those that are unreachable even by the longest hitters..

BTW..i haven't found a reachable par 4 i really liked yet....and i believe all courses should have at least one..

Can't pick one actual hole -- so instead it's a "cross country" hole we made up combination of the 3rd/4th here.

Tee from the Par 3 3rd over the green, off the cliff, to #4 fairway (if you make the 280 poke) then play in to #4 green with the 180-230 you have left in =]

Singling out one probably isn't fair to the holes that don't come to mind right now. But, one of my favorite tee shots is the 10th at Sugarloaf in Maine.
