Who thinks the '07 Burner Fairway is better than RBZ

here is a list of the 3-woods i have tried over the years:

--Ping G10
--TM R11
--TM Burner 2.0 white
--TM RBZ
--TM RBZ Stage 2

here is the 3-wood that always sends the other test clubs to ebay: TM '07 14.5 TP (i also own a 13 TS that makes the bag on certain courses); i have a new tour ad di 8 just waiting to be shafted up if i ever find a 3-wood that can top the '07 burner, but my guess is that i'll just find a newish '07 head somewhere and shaft that up

I still test and try out a bunch of 3-5 woods for my longest fairway wood, and it's all about reliability off the tee for a couple of tee shots a round, and as much reliability as possible for a couple of shots off the deck a round. As a mid-handicapper, none of these are guaranteed shots, but there are a few keepers that year after year can get it done for me. V-steel 3/5w, 906f4 3w, G20 4w, G25 4w, K15 3w and Burner TP 3/5w. As of now, and this could change, the '07 Burner TP 17.5* 5w (more like a 4 wood) is in the bag. It is forgiving, not too big or small, hot, and shallow enough to hit off the deck without giving away much off the tee.

If you like the 07 Burner, find a tour issue Jetspeed. You can find them on Ebay. I had the 07 Burner and traded it in on an Exotics chasing distance. Wish I never would have done that, not that the Exotics was bad, just not the same.

I now have a tour issue Jetspeed that looks nothing like the retail. Smaller, deeper face and not as big looking. This reminds me almost exactly of the 07 Burner. The Jetspeed is long as well. Just don't be afraid to get a little more loft, these things have a very piercing trajectory.

Or you could just keep the 07 Burner, why replace it if it is working? If you are just looking to try something else out, but want something with the newer technology with the same looks, then definitely try out the tour issue version of the Jetspeed.

I had a TM 2007 14.5* TP 3 wood for a long time and "loaned" it to one of our sons with the strict instructions of "use it and enjoy it but never never sell it".

Since then I've used a TM Stage 2 Tour 3wood and the Org. RBZ and, for me, the Orig RBZ is getting the bag time but I haven't sold the Stage 2 either. I've found just the opposite of a lot of lads that the RBZ is a beast off the tee and deck while the Stage 2 was fantastic off the tee but a struggle off the deck. Main reason for the performance off the deck being different was the Stage 2 was 13* and I lowered the loft a click to open the face and the RBZ was 15*.

Head to head and spec to spec, they are both great 3 woods however there is some magic is that 07 TP 3 wood. One of these days when I play again with that son, I'll try them both out and see but now it would be a hard call to prefer one over the other but a slight edge to the RBZ.

Back on the wagon. I now have the 14.5, and the 17.5 TP models. I looked long and hard for the tour issue ROMBAX 75 shaft option and I have finally found it. I probably overpaid a bit for the 17.5 but i can't stop smiling. The feeling and accuracy that these magic sticks offer is about as good as I can imagine a FW having, and I have hit everything under the sun. My long game is back for now. I am giving them the nod over the trusty V-steels, but only by a small margin. Just solid as a rock, and plenty long.

OP, plenty of love still for the '07 Burners, FW and Driver. Plus, though plenty of people buy into the changes in FW technology, I would say that people cling to their favorite fairway woods more than any other club. Nothing wrong with that.

I will add that last week, I stumbled upon a new but shop-worn '07 Burner 3w at Dick's on clearance, and couldn't pass it up at the ridiculous price of $8. Won't jump into my bag, but glad to have it.

I also have an '07 Burner TP 17.5* 5w that is as good as most other fairway woods I have tried. Just classic fairway woods imo.

that 17.5* wood could do it allllll

Hi all , I know this is an old thread but just wanted to check see if anyone who loved these 07 burners are still in the bag ?

I just put my TP 17.5* back in the bag end of last year as a 4 wood , the hoe in me just always thought there was something better out there , but I really don't think there is.

It's Long , easily workable and so forgiving , I've had my eye on a mint 14.5* head on the bay for cheap , but I really don't think I need it.

Hope there are still some cult followers out there

I was playing a tour issue 07 burner tp spoon that was/is AMAZING but got on the RBZ train when they came out. That sent me to tour issue RBZ Stage 2, 16 M1, 17 M2, 16 M2 tour issue DF, 16 tour issue M2 HL, 17 M1, and NOW back to the original 07 tour issue burner spoon which I would never sell. None of these can touch it after MULTIPLE shaft setups and $$$$$$$$$ spent trying. I recently snagged a retail 16 M2 15* and dropped a elements chrome 85FT in it and it is showing more promise than any of the lot BUT not sure it can beat my burner.

Why do I keep trying?????

The first set input together as a beginner included an 07 burner 5 wood, that I absolutely loved forever! So much so that I added a 7 wood and 3 wood. They only lost there place to a set of jetspeed fairways a couple of years ago, because they were the closest I have ever felt to the 07 burner, very similar feel, same squashed low profile head, and the burners were mad beat up, it was simply time to move on.

I have the RBZ 3HL in the bag still. The 17 degree loft helps for off the deck shots. 3 wood shaft length helps on tee shots.
