How do you justify driving at that price? How much is milk or a gallon of water?

Thats crazy
[/quote]

The fuel duty (taxes) is about 60% of what you pay at the pump in the UK, then I think their VAT is 20% right now, which explains their high fuel prices.

It's part of the reason small fuel efficient cars are so popular there, that and they're easier to drive and park on a lot of tight roads.

Spot on

50mpg minimum is more or less a requirement nowadays in the UK for newer family cars.

Funnily enough we worked out that it's cheaper to run two cars for 7 days/week (including insurance, road tax, MoT certificates) than to catch trains/busses to work for 5 days a week, such is the price of public transport in this country.

At the moment I spend approx £300 (US$480) per month on petrol between two cars. The wife works further away (60mile round trip) and spends £200 and I work locally (10mile round trip) so that's a £100 in my old banger. And that
Includes non-commuting stuff like driving to shops, golf, etc.

It would be interesting to know how much people I've in the US/Canada spend on fuel per month and how far that gets them

I drive a 500hp Mustang Cobra that gets 16mpg. 205 per tank and I fill up about once a week. $170/month in gas.

If I lived there I would be paying over $400/mo in gas. But I bet with your laws/regulations they probably wouldn't even let me drive a supercharged V8 lol

I spend $200-$300 a month on gas. That's a daily commute of about 20km round trip plus a lot of kicking around in a fairly spread out city.

$2.79 here today - I believe that's the lowest in the Nation. Was $2.70 two days ago. What's frustrating is that Crude oil went down $1.93 and gas went up 10cents!

During the golf season my wife and I spend $700 a month approxamitley from April to October that equates to 12,000 miles during this time. Then during the winter it gets cut to $300 we drive about 4000 miles from November to March. No need to go to club.
