My MANN Krafted Asian Spec Circa 62 #3 Project - UPDATED 04/13/13

I have always loved the Scotty Cameron Asian Spec Circa #3

Only real difference from the "retail" one (although this was retail too) is that the head weight is 350gm, as opposed to 330gm

I was able to secure one from the BST on a whim and for an awesome price

It showed up in nearly flawless condition (which was better than advertised)

 

I emailed a few of the regular's for some options, quotes and info on a project I had in mind

Lamon Mann from AZ could see what I wanted to do, responded in a timely manner and took this on for me

 

so why not just buy a new one ?

well i think once you see the putter you will see why .... plus I like the older Scotty's better

 

I will update this thread once I have the putter back in my hands, but here are a few pics as he was working on it

 

 

I knew I wanted a flow neck w half shaft offset

The first neck he built was a tad too long for me

so, NP, he zipped it off, and went to work on a new one for me (no questions asked I might add)

New head weight is about bang on!

 

 

 

 

Head is prepped and ready for stamping and to apply the final finish:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The "Assault Black Polymer" Finish has been applied to the head AND shaft.

It is a finish that requires ZERO maintenance and will uphold to all weather conditions

The one thing that REALLY made me happy was the face milling. If you look close, it didnt cut through the Scotty Cameron stamping... VERY IMPRESSIVE LaMont!

Also love that you can see some mill marks o nthe neck - gives it that garage/custom/hand made feel

UPDATE 04/13/2013 - Murdered it Out

 

As much as I loved the different paint scheme, something inside me was telling me to Murder It Out

I mean black on black on black on black ... just made sense :ninja:

Changed it up last night

I love the crap out of this thing, but am on the fence about gaming/keeping it

So what was all done you ask? :

 

-plumbers neck removed and flow neck added w half shaft offset

-sight dot removed and sight line added

-face milled

-350G. stamp on right rear heel

-Assault black polymer finish applied to head AND shaft

-IOMIC mid sized grip w 2+ wraps

-Specs as follows: 34" length, 4º loft, 69º lie

That sounds interesting....if it's too creative though a purist from TCC will find it & post it up as a travesty (unless Rocco or a tour player owns it!).

Me - I like that you're getting creative and I thin it's a much better option to get someone like Lamont to do it and for much less than Scotty's Custom Shop would charge.

Just saw the finished product pics - yep, good selections and great finish.

You might find this amusing as the colors of blue/purple are the same as my son's school uniform. St Mark's school in Hillarys, Western Australia. Would have raised a fortune if auctioned at the school fete today...lol

this really did turn out better than I imagined and he was SUPERB to deal with

we made some on the fly changes and NOT ONCE did he gripe, complain or anything to that matter
just went ahead, made the small change and we were flyin

now if the one million feet of snow would melt, id get a chance to try it outside
