Go steel or heavy graphite for 5w?

Was really excited to work a 5w into the bag (when i was hitting more fairways) but have run into some issues now that the honeymoon phase is over. Quite honestly, I think I am overswinging. Had the same issue with my 3w, and fixed that right up by going a little shorter and heavier in the shaft.

Would the same work for the 5w? No real experience with a 5w, so not entirely sure how to proceed.

Thoughts?

I would go graphite, heavy if you like. You have so much more options in the bend profile to really find something that fits you.

Same shaft as your 3w?

Ya, CAT. I love my 19* 910f. I cut down a really good oban shaft 75g (notoriously stiffer to flex) and it has become a very reliable club; mostly because of the length I cut it to. I'd highly recommend going up no more than 10g in shaft weight, preferably 5g, and cut from the butt to your desired length.

To get a picture, I've lost maybe 5-10 yards in distance doing this, but I don't mind at all because this club goes STRAIGHT every time with a nice high penetrating ball flight. It's remarkable to watch. A simple change is all you need to get that honeymoon phase back. What kind of shaft profiles do you prefer?

Cat, a month ago i went 4 wood and 7 wood , with stiffer and heavier shafts
than i hit last year. A great move. More accuracy and fairways hit.
The New Zealand summer is still a month away so i am just getting back into golf,
3 rounds for September. Yesterday i hit an uphill 4 wood at...60% power and nailed it..
perfectly..still 25m short of the green but made par......
A controlled 70% swing is a great tool!
Ps steel dg driver, 75 gram Voodoo (tipped 1 inch) 4 wood, Series 7+ AXE is the 7 wood.
