How do you handle this technique/set up when the ball nestles down in thick Bermuda rough around the green. Living here in florida we have thick rough typically this time of year.

Funny enough, Dan has a video for that too:

Between this and answering my twitter questions, he has made my game so much more consistent it's insane.

Perfect! Thanks

These are great questions and I think the new video will answer them all in more depth than he has in the past. For the guys that have first hand in person lessons, a lot of the stuff gets covered but I find I forget some of it and a video is going to be a great refresher for me. There are quite a few nuances and adjustments that he makes to hit different shots off of different lies I am not sure he even knows everything he knows LOL. He has told me he just sees the shot and instinctively hits it. I am getting to that point now too, but understanding all of the nuances makes that happen much faster. Things like dropping the right foot back, lowering or raising the handle, adding more or less knee flex, where to point the handle at setup from your nadsack to your belly button, all of those type of things affect the trajectory.

The other day I realized I had got to the point where I would just instinctively make the adjustments without even thinking about them. Raising the handle, lowering, the handle, opening the face, etc. I am just seeing the shot I want to hit and "being an athlete," as he says.

Once you get the technique down, it is all experimentation and practice.

I had the same question initially. After seeing Dan in person and doing a good bit of practicing and messing around I say hinge. I only use the putting method for the shorter little chips. Anything greater than about 5-10 yards it's the hinge for me.

Ha ha, those are the fun ones. Open the face, lower the handle and drop the right foot back. Then just make sure you don't stop the right arm and swing away. You can be short sided in rough and make it pop straight up and stop. Heck if anything the problem I have now is flopping it too good and leaving it short. I was short sided on a downhill bare lie a few weeks ago with about 15 yards to the pin. Used this technique and popped it straight up and dropped it on the short side of the pin on the green and stopped it. That drew some funny looks from my playing partners.

Are you using a hinge method with your left wrist or are you still using a putting method and keeping the left wrist firm while hitting this shot?

Yep. Same for me. Definitely takes some time and practice to know how much to open and lower/raise for the shot you're playing but after that it's pretty automatic.

What distance are you guys using this technique up to? Honestly I've been going all the way up to 50-60 yards, even on completely fine lies from fluffy fairways(not cc tight). It just seems idiot proof and I don't really know why I'd want to do anything else. You can pretty much mishit the ball as much as you want and the ball goes nearly the exact same distance as if you pured it, just with a little different flight. Think I made 4 birdies in my last round from doing this on various shots alone. 10y bunker shot, 30 yd fairway, 20 yd fairway and one from 50. So solid. Saved par a few times too from gruesome spots, like on tree roots and etc. This is as idiot-proof as it gets. Whenever Dan's short game video gets released, I'll pay whatever he wants for it ASAP. My buddies are like " why are your hands so high, what are you doing," yet time after time, get soft pitches that are the easiest shot to control I've ever seen.

I first saw the video of Dan during the winter and practiced on my carpet, then as the golf season arrived I started to use this technique on real greens and ............ I can honestly say that my short game is now one of the best part of my game !!!!!
Dan's technique and an arm lock putter and my scores are just going down ..... it's fun !!!!!!

It's not live yet. Will be up soon and those who tried to buy won't be charged multiple times. Calm down. I said I'll make it known on my social media when it's available. Be patient probably won't be up til Monday as they couldnt test the videos. It should NOT be available for purchase
