Has anyone heard any rumors about it being sold and redesigned?

I've tried to email them multiple times with no response over the last couple months. Something is up.

I believe all the non-resident memberships have been sold. If you were contacting them for that reason, that's probably why you didn't get a response. Although they should have let you know instead of doing nothing.

That sounds right, but could be wrong at the same time.

I played a preview round a couple months ago and was told they still had 50+ open memberships for non-residents.

Played my round and the next day I get word that they are closing membership opportunities for the rest of the year.

Seemed rather random.

Hmm totally forgot to ask my neighbor. He is a member. I’ll ask him tomorrow if I see him.

The official word I got was that the owners are looking into partnering with a design team to do some work on the course and a development team to sell more properties. Official word will be sent out if and when anything happens.

Anyone who has played it can attest to hole number 6 being a unfair hole. Maybe number 8 should have the right side of the green softened a bit. Otherwise, I love the golf course

#6 being the par 3 that I need to lay up on to ensure i hold the green?

Every time I have played the flag is back left or front right. No way to get at the front right unless you get lucky and hit short and trickle down the hill. If you hit the hit on the downslope you shoot across the back of the green. I have heard member complain and they were looking to do some things, but hadn’t heard “a new design team” or anything of the sorts.

Yes, that is the one. Just play for the front left of the green and be happy with what you get‍♂️ Front left and back middle are the only pin placements on the hole that are actually accessible, everywhere else is pure blind luck to get close.

If you hit it back middle you better hope you have plenty of backspin or you roll off. Once I played there and the grass was mowed down back there and I rolled all the way to the trees. The other time I went back there the grass was long enough to hold on to my ball on the side of the hill.

Johan contacted me about bringing my daughter out to play last week. I sent him a reply about coming out but never heard back from him. Maybe this is why?

Johan was kind enough to invite my daughter and I out for a round yesterday and we had a blast out there. The course is in excellent condition and the staff were as nice as anyone could be. Met Chris Apple, the course pro, and he made us feel welcome out there. It was an all around great day and my daughter loved every minute of it.

I did find out that the building they are working out of now will become the pool house once a new pro shop and cart barn are built. Instead of being all under one roof, they have broken things up into separate buildings. There's a massive hole to the left of the existing building that will be the pool with an awesome view. Everything in the existing building is top notch. I mean extremely nice.

On the course, the fairways were like carpet and the greens were rolling great. Chris mentioned that the bunkers needed some work they they were going to start but honestly they were better than at any other course that I've played at. They have the place in amazing condition. My daughter made a comment about the driving range. She said the view was so good, she didn't mind if she hit a bad shot. It's one of the only courses I can think of with a driving range that's as impressive as the course.

Great. Hope they didn’t kill you on greens fees.

I love the view of the driving range, but in general hate those type ranges. Hitting every shot down like that isn’t my fav because my distances are all weird. But that’s me, a range junkie. If I was a member, I wouldn’t care one bit.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Johan treated the 2 of us to a round so no cost to us. Can't beat that.

For the driving range, I'm not looking for distances since you are hitting range balls. I just want to know if I can hit the ball fairly straight. You get that there plus an amazing view to go along with it.

Awesome!

I've heard nothing but great things about Johan.

If anyone here is a member there and needs a guest, I'd love to make it out there for a round once. I was lucky enough to play the Grove once although it was in a scramble.

Glad you 2 had a great time! That was very nice of Johan to do that for you. Way to go Johan! Hope he is enjoying his new home(house)!

Did he move out there?

He moved somewhere near downtown Nashville. Twitter had a picture of the skyline. The joke was on me because another friend of mine said Johan had moved and I thought he meant moved on from the course which was not true.

So what does this part mean:

While an 18-hole golf course already exists on the property, the company said a new Tom Fazio-designed golf course is in the works, as well as a private club featuring a camp for children, a field house, multi-purpose fields, community garden, a recording studio and an outdoor amphitheater.

Will the completely redo the existing course or start a new one?

The Tennessean story linked above has been updated. Says Fazio will be redesigning the existing course.
