Golf Channel On the range

Cannot believe they didn't renew this show. It was a highlight of the golfing week and typically had good guests and views of the pros getting ready for the tournament. Granted some of the commentators were lacking, but overall really well done. As many have already stated, let's watch more reruns of old movies and useless infommercials instead (sarcasm). Golf Channel seems to have slipped a bit since Comcast bought them. Maybe they can hire more on air personalities that know nothing about golf too (more sarcasm).

Heres the bottom line. Lisa Cornwell was hired for one reason only....she's Bill Clintons cousin. Period, end of discussion. NBC stands for National Bill Clinton channel. They are in love with the Clintons and Hillary in 2016...see where I am going with this? The fact that she played golf....is simply icing on the cake. She was hired because she is Bill's cousin. Hence her huge exclusive with Bill on her 2nd day on the job. Bill is going to be getting a lot of air time on the GC over the next year or so.

It's the same reason A. Rashad was hired. Because of his supposedly close relationship with Jordan, Tiger and Rory. They thought by bringing Rashad on that he could convince them to come on the show live in studio. They would hype the Sh!t out of it and it would be a ratings bonanza. But once they realized he was just a name dropper, who sucks at golf and had no chance of getting those guys in studio he was sent packing.

I have yet to figure out the GC. They had IMO one of the best in Stephanie Sparks and she was sent packing. Stina Sternberg is also one of the better golf journalists out there and she was sent after one or two seasons of BB. The best part was Stephanie and Stina were very good, very knowledgeable about golf and nice to look at. They had the best of both worlds talent and good looks, unlike who they have now. Yet somehow Tom Abbot still has a job, which is one of the more baffling things to me.

Let me ask a question, NBC owns GC, does NBC ever do anything that is worth watching. The entire network belongs in the dumpster.

On the range was great because it was nice seeing guys that understand the swing break down good players. Sometimes it gets tiring seeing swing fixes of players that are 20 handicaps. i agree, the show was a must watch. Instead we are getting non stop reruns of the big break and feherty.

I actually like seeing a rerun on tuesday night of prior years tournament or a round from past.

What is percentage of homes with DVR nowadays. I would think reruns would become a thing of the past as most can simply dvr and watch when they want....which is the ONLY way to watch the Big Break and even the PGA tournaments now that we seem to get non stop commercials.

Forget OTR and BB whatever....I want a new episode of Pipe Dream!
Last I saw anything from him he was heading to Puerto Rico then some fool gave him a place to live in Florida then....Tembolo1284 chased him off GolfWRX last summer and I think he is now dead...or in another pipe somewhere....

Bingo! I love watching the shots with pro tracer. I think its still pretty expensive right now but this is the future of the televised game if they can get this for every shot. The interest in golf would sky rocket if the average person could see exactly what these guys are capable of.

Sorry to get a little off the original topic, but Win McMurray is totally gone? I was holding out hope that she just was on a long winter break or something. That is terrible news.

OTR was one of my favs too. Well reading this thread just ruined my weekend.

Wow, that was the only thing I watched other than tournament coverage. I don't understand what's going on with that channel. I want to see more shows like chasing the tour or whatever it's called where they show people trying to make it and grinding on the mini tours. It seems to me that they try and make it more like TV for the family instead of sports TV.. Every time I see a feature on a top player they spend 2 minutes talking about golf and the next 15 minutes are videos of him playing with his kids. I don't know why they can't focus more on GOLF.

They needed to clear out some space for The Hammer and Medicus infomercials. Then follow those up with late night new feature Up all Night with Cialis and Smilin Bob.

My guess is--despite how much people here liked the show--the ratings stunk. It's simple economics in most cases.

Kind of did On The Range in the pregame today. Even did shot tracer on the range. Pretty cool.
