Posted my first round with the unit today and I'm pretty impressed.

The post-round review is very easy.

My only complaint is that the tee balls aren't registering on the correct tee box so the distances off my driver aren't always what I measured on my Garmin S2. They're sometimes off by 20 yards, but when I move the tee ball starting point, it is within a few yards.

I know better for my round tomorrow that I'll have to remember which tee boxes I play from and then edit that in the post-round review.

I received the GG for father's day this year. I used it for about 5 rounds before I retired it. I could not get used to tapping the sensor before hitting.

I think I was below 60 with every round using GG! I could have every course record if I posted those scores!

Tried mine for the first time yesterday, love it so far. Only problem is my 9iron tag doesn't read for some reason, guessing it's faulty. Can't wait to get more rounds loaded in.

Played my round today. Very wet/cold but 77 from blues (~6600 yards) and I'm a happy guy. [color=#000000]Took a bit to get used to tapping before each shot but no biggie. The round editing was straight forward. Distances seemed pretty spot on.[/color]

Word has it santa is bringing me Game Golf for xmas. I'm going to be like a kid in a candy store, just dying to get it out on the course. I'm kind of hesitant to take it out until spring though. Silly season rounds don't tend to be very indicative of my game, so I think it might throw off the stats and club distances.

I've start reading this thread from page 15 so please forgive me is this subject have been discussed yet. Also forgive me about my english, I'm french.

I love Game Golf but their way of dealing with OOB drives (or shots that go into hazards) never satisfied me. Indeed, they says that if your drive goes OOB you just have to delete it in your review and add a 2 shots penalty to the second drive. For me it s out of the question as I want to see when and where a drive goes out of bound and I want it to show up in my stats,

 

The only problem is that when drive goes OOB, you don't tag your next shot from where the ball landed. So what i did is adding a « penalty tag » like some of you certainly already did (for me it s the triangle)

 

My question is what do you do in your review with this penalty tag ?

 

If you don't do anyting you will end up with your first drive showing 0 yards because penalty tag will be at the same location that first drive. As a consequence it won't tell you if you missed the fairway left or right and by how far.

So what I do during my roud review is dragging the penalty tag to the place I think my ball landed. Of course it s not perfectly accurate but it's much better that doing nothing,

 

So it will look like this :

 

 

You can see my first drive going way right of the fairway, then you see a « virtual shot » sending the ball back to the tee box, and then you see my second drive.

 

That way when I look at my « Off the tee » stats I can see this a spot on the right showing me my OOB drive. Moreover, as Game Golf turn a spot into red when a miss is important, I can see very easily where my big misses are.

 

 

There is a little inconvenient to that process : the second drive does't appear anywhere in your stats.

Personnaly I don't care, I consider my firt tee shot much more important to my stats than the second one,

 

So did I just reinvented the wheel here and every one is doing the same already, or do you think it's a good idea ?

Yep, and had the same problem. Went back to multi-compounds and problem solved.

That's a shame. I really like the pure grips but it's pointless if I can't use the game golf system.

Alright, so how are these stats supposed to work? I've seen a couple like this that have not exactly added up correctly.

For example, I have 4 shots into the green with this particular club. 1/4 shots looks like its in the 15 yard circle 1/4 is left and 1/4 is short - shouldnt that other shot be counted as well? My two rounds were both marked as include in the stats and everything else about them looks OK.

Shouldnt these add up to 100%?

No. As game golf day on the website if a s*** is both short and right it courts for both. So it could add up to more than 100%

@ Golfingal, Most of the courses are all ready mapped out. If the course you play isn't their system contact them and they will add it. I have had real good CS from them.Hope this helps and enjoy your GG system.

They did a California course by request and in about 6 weeks it was up.

Added all my clubs yesterday. Unit should arrive early in the week. No 3 iron tag so it looks like i use a star one. Wouldn't it make sense to of made the grip tags black and not red so they don't stand out so much?

They did the one course I requested already! 2-3 days and it was up...that was pretty impressive. I went out with it the first time today - it was fun but I really had a hard time remembering if I tagged or not sometimes and I definitely missed a few...and maybe did a couple twice. Old age I guess. I've got to figure out a place to put it in my pre-shot routine.

Editing the round online was a little shaky. Sometimes the contextual menu items didn't respond no matter how many times I clicked them (DELETE a shot for instance)

Anyway reviewing the round online was fun. Showed very accurate distances, based on my own knowledge of the numbers I usually hit. It also helped me to see some course management improvements I could do. Looking forward to working with the system some more and getting git down to a science.

Has anyone tried to dye the tags? I used to throw RC car parts in hot water with Rit Dye to change the color and I'm wondering if this would work on the discs?

I requested 3 courses be added prior to a trip to Northern Spain - They were added the day I requested them! - Customer Service with GG is very good in my experience ... Paul

I used mine for the first time this past Saturday. The weather was an unseasonable 60 degrees, so I had to take it out. I think it's really neat, and has a lot of potential. I probably won't take it out again over the winter, unless we get another really unseasonable warm stretch. I don't want to keep stats based on rounds where I haven't played in a month, it's balls cold, and I'm wearing 5 layers of clothes. I'm anxious to get more rounds in with it in the spring though!

But they make my nicely coloured irons look like some cheap box store rubbish. I don't want to have to explain to every person i play with what it is either. I'm sure it's advertising for them. Kind of tacky and cheap looking / bad designing to me
