Confirmed during Game Golf's twitter event yesterday that they will be rolling out to Apple stores today. Nice get for this relatively small company to land some Apple store retail space. Good for them.

That is good to hear. I'm still waiting for the thaw to be able to get out and see how much I enjoy mine. I at the very least, I know my father will enjoy it if I don't.

Finally played again up here in New England after using my Game Golf on a trip to AZ in February. The new updates for the uploaded were nice (especially the putting from on/off the green). They still need the ability to change shots to different holes in the uploaded. For example on 15 I hit my 2nd shot on a par 5 left of the green onto the 17th fairway. The system calculated my 2 chips (darn chunk) from 17 fairway as shots towards 17. So I had to add shots to 15th overlay them over the existing shots and then delete the ones that were counting for 17. It'd be much easier if I could just check off the shots and say move to 15 to have it recalculate.

First round with mine yesterday; worked well, editing later wasn't tough. However...the belt unit came off twice during the round. Luckily, I found it both times upon retracing my steps. I'm not taking it out again without additionally securing it with something like rubber bands, string or tape. IMHO, this is a design flaw that needs to be addressed, maybe with a clamp linking the bottom of the belt loop with the bottom of the unit.

Thanks for the tip; glad to hear others don't seem to be having this issue.

This is how I've been using it, mainly just because I think it looks goofy on my belt. A smaller form factor would be nice, just from a fashion standpoint. When I put it in my pocket, it's usually no problem to tag shots, but it sometimes shifts around, making it a little more difficult to find the right side of the unit to touch the tag to, for it to register. More and more, I've started just pulling it out of my pocket and tagging with the receiver in my hand, especially on the greens, when you don't want to take a lot of time messing with it when you're going up to tap in a putt.

Starting to really like the system. It is now a part of my pre-shot routine so you can subtract a yard from every shot but I really like this thing.

Some of the things I do. For remembering where pins are I use a two letter combination code on my score card. FC=Front Center, BL=Back Left, CR=Center Right. It puts me close enough that I can trust to put the pin somewhere near there. For tap in, I just make a mark on the card TI, which reminds me to add a tap in stroke. I enjoy editing the rounds after just as a reminder of the fun I had.

Finally got out there. Got to use my unit for the first time.
It was great. Took some time to get used to tagging.
First time editing, will hopefully get easier.

Only real criticism: this thing has no name!
It's a website management tool plus an on course tracker.
the on course tracker needs a name.

Any suggestions?

I don't really worry about pin positions since there is no distance to pin stat yet. I just putt out and let the pin go wherever game golf decides to put it. I figure as long as my putting stats are accurate in terms of total putts it doesn't really matter where it thinks the pin is.
[/quote]
I'm hoping they'll be adding that, as that seems like something that would be a great advantage of this kind of tracker. You could get strokes gained calculations out of it.

Game Golf sent out a survey this week, and asked about enhancements we'd like to see, and that is one of the things I said I'd like to see--strokes gained and proximity to the hole stats would be outstanding to see.

problem with that is, there is no way for it to know where the pin is. unless you put it there. it takes the "accuracy out of it" granted you could go in a make it where you shot 63.... when you really shot 93... but I think those kind of stats are a little different. I think there is room for improvement, but I dont know how easily it would be to pull that off and make it realistic (more I think about it the less I believe what I just typed, but I am too lazy and hardheaded to change my mind)

That's why I like the idea of setting aside a tag that you could scan each hole to indicate where the pin is. That would allow the system to easily do that kind of tracking. It's already tracking that information in a way by how it determines the pin location, and allowing the user to adjust that when editing rounds. It's not going to get down to PGA Shotlink levels of accuracy, due to the limitations of GPS technology, but it's these kinds of stats that I think can be cool and useful. Just counting fairways, greens, and putts is ok, but those are limited in their usefulness.

It has a mini usb cord for charging and downloading the round. It then loads the round to their online round editor so you could edit from any computer or tablet after that. A few have chimed in that they'd be more interested in some sort of bluetooth upload so they wouldn't have to plug into a computer at all so that might be coming in future iterations of the product.

Did anyone else get an email from Game Golf today about the enhancement to allow you to mark putts as being on or off the green? I'm confused, because that function has been there since I've been using the system? Were some people not seeing this before?

I believe I just noticed I could do that for the first time this weekend. Perhaps it was a firmware version on some of the later units that couldn't do that, as I just received mine about two weeks ago. I like the update though.

The first time you edit your round can be a little confusing, but by now its second nature for me and I can do it in my sleep. The better you are at tagging all of your shots the easier your edit will be (sometimes I forget to tag a shot). After a couple edits it'll be easy for you too.

I don't worry about moving the pin to the correct position on the green (since it defaults to front/middle/back) or my putt lengths since there is no stat tracking for proximity to hole/ putt distance, etc. If you spend time moving pins, etc around it will take a little longer.

Ok. I've got one coming, should be here tomorrow. I bought it used off the BST, hopefully that is not a problem. I've created an account.

I'm very technology challenged, is it pretty easy to get it set up and use?

very easy to use....

cant believe someone wouldnt like it. its just a cool toy.

is it shot link... no.... but can you really expect it to be for 250 bux?

its a REALLY cool gadget and should be viewed as such....
really and truly i think the biggest let down is that google earth wont let you zoom in any closer than it does... and thats a google thing, not a game golf thing..

I'm really looking forward to playing with it. I think it is really cool when they show each shot on the course with the club and distance.

I'm hoping it shows up tomorrow, but I don't think, that will give me enough time to use it if we end up playing.

The thing is, it could be the amateur version of Shotlink, with the current hardware and data collected. Not down to the yard or foot or anything, but with the information it gathers, there's a ton of cool reporting that could be developed. It is a cool gadget, and I think it's only going to get better with time and as features are added.
