Time for new irons...but from what company

I think 10 years old is at the early end of the phase where you would start to consider oem heads with appropriate shafts. Having said that, I would probably go with US Kids tour series, and sometime over the next year look at doing oem heads (next shaft length up), to start growing into. Mostly this depends on your kid and factors like height, swing speed, etc.

Good point. His swing speed is 66-70mph he’s 4’6 to 4’8 been playing for 6 years.

Sounds very similar to my son who is 9 years old, 4'9", and swings around 65-68. We are getting ready a club overhaul in the winter to move on from his TS 54" irons and we have decided he will be ready for an OEM head with an appropriate shaft in the winter when he hits 10 and is probably close to 5' tall. I think most people agree once they are over 65 mphish and controlling their swing they can probably handle an adult head with the right shaft.

My son just turned 11 and is the 57” USKG TS irons. It will be our last go around. He’s small for his age—4’9” and driver swing speed is 76 MPH.

My opinion is that under 5’ tall and under 75 MPH swing speed it is extremely difficult and likely extremely expensive to appropriately get fitted for OEM clubs. Once you hit 5’ y’all and start swinging it then ladies, seniors and ultimately men’s gear comes into play. As long as my child is child size we will play the only irons with R&D $$ going for children.

We do use OEM woods with Flynn shafts and just got fitted for wedges that are OEM. reason for that is grooves on wedges were shot and he will be in OEM everything by next spring so no use in buying more USKG wedges for 6 months of use.

Heavy Hitter is a good source on this

You need to get him into adult players irons. Get a transition shaft from KBS or Nippon in regular flex. He will be good for a couple of year.

Heavy that's what I was thinking. He's a cobra fan and I'm a like the apex are the p790s going to get fitted in July are August when our tournament series slows down so he dont struggle to much with the transition. you have any advice on what's best we open

I would just try players irons. I don't know what your budget is to help you there.

My kid is probably odd. He doesn't like Mizuno, Callaway, Titelist, or Cobra irons. He swings Wilson because he likes the look and the feel of the irons. The biggest is what the club looks like while looking at the top edge. He doesn't like a thick top edge. He has tried everything and just isn't a fan. Some of the manufacturers don't make what he wants to try in left handed either. He needs new new irons and will be purchasing this summer. Probably going to be 3-6 Wilson FG Tour V6 irons and 7-PW the new Staff Blades. The left handed blades don't come out until June and the rep is going to call me when he gets his samples.
