Can we talk about these two impact positions?

The impact position on the right, is my normal every day swing, armsie and pulling from the top. The left impact position is me driving my hips as hard as I can as I complete the backswing. Have I been ignoring my lower body my whole life in order to control my swing with my arms and hands? I find the difference in these two pictures rather amazing.

When you say "driving" your hips does that mean you are rotating the hips? That's what it looks like from these images - and I agree the difference is substantial.

Not a pro - but I will say that with that type of manipulation of your sequencing - it's my understanding that how well sync'd up the different parts of your body are will be MUCH more important than how open (or not) your hips are at impact. And that's not something that will necessarily show up in those stills of the impact position.

I mean bump/rotate to 10:30 with 12 being in front of me. This move obviously created room, and eliminated the need to stand up on the downswing. I have zero clue how to work on sequencing this.

I agree. It just seemed that “feel” obviously created room, and also eliminated the need to stand up in the downswing. I have no clue as to whether it would equate to better ball contact. My guess is the new position would need to be learned, and I’d end up with thins and fats since my body is used to standing up.

You'll probably only figure out the sequencing while hitting balls. For me its about getting pressure left early on so I can rotate on my lead leg.

That is why God invented instructors. You'll learn to do it consistently with drills, devices, feels, possibly video feedback, but you'll do it a lot more effectively if you do it all with the help of a good instructor.

Or you can just search Youtube and try every different and often contradictory method promoted there until you find one that works for you

Wasn’t meant that way. The exact opposite actually. Don’t want you to get discouraged and give up right away when you find I’m right initially.

The old need a ball trick. A Ball just will complicate your life.

Make magic swings and call it a day.

Kidding!

OP

Maybe pretend you are skipping a pebble sidearm and see where your body sets naturally. Some people say to throw a ball at the golf ball in your stance to see the natural posistion.

Ideally it’s whichever impact position transfers the most energy to the ball. Sometimes at the range I can get this one hybrid out to 225-240. At impact it feels like the grip (hands) is behind my torso. I guess that I have turned so fast that my hands and arms are catching up, providing the “whipping” action we all hear about .

It’s really hard to recreate consistently , which is a bummer. Just get out to the range and experiment on different impact feelings.

Then having the confidence to bring it to the course will be the final step.
