No more MDF on Saturdays

I approve of all three, especially the winner getting an even bigger cut of the winnings.

Interesting one. You could see the elite guys wanting a bigger slice of the pie for winning but the rank and file guys of which clearly there are more you would think would want to ensure they they get paid the chance of which is less likely with this change.

I must admit I'm a bit shocked too.

The move to 20% is notable. 18% has been the standard for full field PGA Tour events as long as I can remember. I'd say it goes back to at least 1980.

This affects journeymen mostly.

I wonder how the first place prize money bump will impact the WGC purse payouts. The first place payouts in those events have been between 16-17% instead of the standard 18% for PGA Tour events. Do they go to 20% for 1st place or simply bump them the 2% to pay between 18-19% for first place.

I'm glad these guys are getting a cost of living raise.

If I'm not mistaken the Tour has been keen on this for a while but was it not rejected by the players the last time it came up, what changed?

According to the PGA, going from 70 to 65 is an effort to speed up play.

Ha ha ha, so the PGA Tour now recognizes slow play as an issue? I won't hold my breath for them to enforce current and make new rules to combat slow play on Tour.

It's simple play better and you'll make more money.

Probably approved so that when a journeyman does win, they get a big pay day. People always dreaming and chasing.
