Fujikura Ventus Black 6X vs 7X

Anyone test both of these against each other? Obviously there is a weight difference 65g vs 78g but just wondering if anyone found any other differences in feel, launch, spin, carry, etc from when you tested. What are people getting for swing weights in these shafts with the SIM in the stock/standard length? Also any comparisons of the Black vs Blue what people were seeing.

I recently switched from a 7X to a 6X. No data to report, but I think I have more ball speed/distance with the 6X, and have not appeared to have lost any accuracy.  More spin/less spin I don't know.  I also have a swing weight scale and found the 6X to actually swingweight almost exactly the same if not a smidge heavier than the 7X. As a low 110 swinger, it's definitely less work/effort to swing the 6X all out than the 7X.

Big difference in handle stiffness between the 60 gram and 70 gram shafts. You can see the Ventus 6X has a softer handle than both Atmos 6 and 7, while the Ventus 7 X has a firmer handle than Atmos. The other factor is balance point. Measured from the tip, the balance point in inches: Atmos 6X, 23.68 Atmos 7X 24.18 Ventus 6X 24.41 Ventus 7X 25.29 (for comparison Tensei PO 60TX 25.37 ). So the balance point will shift about an inch higher from Atmos to Ventus, which will have a measurable impact on swingweight.

I think Ventus was designed for the lower weight shafts to be able to be as stabled as traditional heavy weights. Best of both worlds!

Great info, that lines up with the Fit2Score data as well. The increased butt stiffness in the Ventus 7x raises the balance point and definitely puts it into "counterbalanced" territory.

Yes thanks for that, i had an atmos ts black 7x and i realllly wanted to like it but ultimately it was just too much shaft for me. I was a tad worried the ventus black would have similar results but looks like the ventus black 6x would be much easier to manage.

You bet. Have to add that it's important to remember EI bend profiles do not communicate overall stiffness. You could have a shaft that is more stiff in the handle section on a bend profile that is still softer over the total length (lower frequency measurement). Frequency measurements are often a little higher in the same flex when going up in shaft weight. Your assumption is right though, Ventus Black 7X will be slightly more stiff overall than Atmos TS Black 7X.

I have a 6x arriving tomorrow, and played a 7x last season. Just need the snow to melt now. I’m thinking I’ll end up keeping and playing both. Playing the 7x shorter, and playing the 6x longer. Swapping them depending on where I’m playing.
