Let’s discuss Cobra hybrids

Hi all. I am looking to upgrade my old Cobra Baffler 3 and 4 hybrids (picture below, new in 2005). I play both in the stock stiff made-for Aldila shaft (even though I’m reg flex in everything else — 52 years d, 92 mph swing speed with the driver).

How are the more recent Cobra hybrids? I’m not looking for the latest and greatest, just looking for something newer, better and just as solid as the original. Also would be great if you could comment on the stiffness of the stock shafts Thanks

Honestly any Cobra hybrid form F7 to present are really good. The F7's are the last of the adjustable hybrids in that range. Still have mine in the club collection. Currently have the F9 5 hybrid & the mostly overlooked Cobra King OS 3-4 hybrid. I have other hybrids by all other major manufacturers but Cobra hybrids keep finding there way into the bag.

I finally admitted to myself that I could no longer it a 2, 3, or 4 iron off the deck with any kind of consistency. So, I went looking for hybrids to fill those spots in my bag. Let me tell you, I should have done this a few years ago. I tried several brands, but the Cobra F9’s were by far the most consistent and longest of the bunch. I also like a regular shaft in them even though my swing speed is borderline. I swing smoothly and they just get up an go. The rails on the bottom are great for helping keep the club on line and square as well. I am now hitting more greens in regulation and reaching all par 5’s in three with just a little 20-30 yard pitch now. When I absolutely wear these heads out, I’ll by another set or maybe upgrade to the Speedzone version.

I own an F8 and have tried the F7 and 9. They are all good.

F7 4-5H is the oldest club in my bag. It’s the only one I haven’t really been tempted to replace. I’m a ~105-110 driver swing speed and the stock stiff shaft seems to be fine. I like that it’s adjustable so I can tweak if necessary.

I am undecided between F8/F9 and PING G-410, I currently use Cleveland Mashies (3 and 4) and still hit them OK but feel I am leaving something behind, my irons are PING G-700

Seems like the F7 is as far back as you’ve all gone so far. Is there anything between the original Baffler and the F7 I should be looking at? I’m wanting to spend as little $$$ as possible (aren’t we all?).

I managed to snag a fc version of the F9. So mine is adjustable. One of the best hybrids I’ve ever used.

Personally, I like the sound and feel better than the F8 or even the new Speedzone and I find it to be a great value at its current price point.

Also, I don’t like the stock shafts in the Speedzones (UST Recoils).

I’m playing a F6 2/3 hybrid. It is stupid long and has a nice feel to it. Stock stiff shaft was too light so I was going left. Put in a x stiff tour green atx 85 With a gram of lead tape on the toe and it is much better.

The King F9 SpeedBack hybrids are re-engineered with BAFFLER® rails and a low back tungsten weight that optimize turf interaction. As well as a lower CG for an improved launch and faster clubhead speed from any lie. These clubs are forged with a 455 stainless steel face that maximizes the flex for increased ball speed and launch across the face.

I’ve played Baffler T Rail, BiO Cell, Fly Z, F6, and F8. (Similar swing speed to OP) The best one with rails is the F8: glued hosel, solid feel, compact head, & deeper face (ugly gray and stupid stickers on the crown, but you can’t have it all). Rogue Pro 75 shaft is good, you could play stiff or reg.

Go back to BiO Cell for the cheapest adjustable option, not much difference until they add the rails on F7. BiO Cell stock shaft is a little lighter, you’ll want the S in that. Great line of fairways too, especially the 5-7+.

Newer isn't guaranteed better performance, I still play 2 Baffler DWS hybrids and am 100% happy with them. If you just want a new club for short money, pick a dollar amount and buy at random. What's the problem with the current clubs you are trying to address?

F6 is in my bag, set to 19*. Solid hybrid - longer than most for me - with very good feel. Worth a look.

Still using Biocell hybrids. Find both of them very forgiving.

I went with new sim hybrid had f7 f8 and f9 they all seem to have a super right tendency. The sim is best hybrid I've ever hit. Super straight high and long.

I sold my Cobra F8 hybrid after 2 months. Would draw too much for my liking as I have most hybrids I've bought.

Nothing wrong with them at all. I hit them great. The 3h is my 190 club, 4h is 180. Consistent and solid. Love the way they feel. I’m just wondering if there’s something better and more recent out there in the Cobra line.

I use a 3/4 BioCell and can't complain. I use a regular V2 shaft and like the feel and the height I can get. Would recommend if you're looking for something used....

The Cobra Baffler 4 and 5 hybrids with stock Aldila shafts are still in my bag. I still haven't found anything better.

F7 3/4 is a treasured club in my bag. Like the adjustability, which can help for those who hook a hybrid. I have seen new F8 Hb at Golftown in Canada for $99 That’s cheap. Rails are magic.

Recently acquired an F9 in 17* just to play around with it and see how it performed. Really surprised me how good it was. Very easy to hit and it just goes. I like the matte black on top too. Very good club
