Shipping golf clubs

I couldn’t find any other spots on this subject, but does anyone know the cheapest way to ship a driver? I like to buy and sell clubs online, but most drivers cost me around $50/ea shipping from the Midwest. Just wondering if I’m totally stupid or that’s just how it is. I’ve been told that cost depends on size of box and destination zip code.

USPS. I think paid around $15 or less to ship one from ebay with USPS.

Cheapest way is to go to a golf shop. When I went to Florida a few years ago, Golf Galaxy shipped a huge box with 3 full sets for less than $15. I had Edwin Watts send them back for about $17. The shops have special deals with UPS that discount the rates.

USPS. The most I've probably paid is about $15 shipping from MD to West Coast. I can print out the labels straight from eBay/Paypal and now even with Stay At Home orders I schedule pickup during normal mail delivery.

I gave up FedEx and UPS probably about 2 years ago.

I am in AZ and with the right box I can get my shipping of a driver down to about $30-40 depending on where it is going using ground shipping. Sometimes the NE states will cost me a little more. The first few times I shipped a driver I used a standard 6"x 6"x 60" box and it was $50-$60. Just by cutting the box dimensions down to 4.5"x 5.5" x 50"(same size Callaway Preowned uses for drivers) it saved me $15 to $20 per shipment.

So now depending on what I am shipping, I keep the box dimensions as small as I can while still protecting the club and shaft, because it saves me quite a bit of $$$ over several packages shipped. I hope that helps a little.

USPS is a little cheaper, but I have had issues with them bending and crushing the boxes, so I do not use them anymore.

Do you have to sell the item on eBay or can you just buy a label straight through them?

USPS is usually the cheapest and fastest. The key is to keep the dimensions to as close to 48”x6”x6” as possible. You can always separate the shaft/head to shorten the length. I just shipped a driver from TN to AZ and it was $20 & some change, fully insured.

USPS keep package dimension 48" x 6" x 6" or less.

Never shipped just a driver, but did ship a 4i once, and USPS was the cheapest over UPS and FedEx by far.

Had an interesting experience shipping a push cart from socal to new York. USPS and UPS wanted $130+ but FedEx wanted $50.

I've shipped 3 drivers in the last 3 months. All USPS Priority Insured. None cost more than $14 , even insuring for up to $200 and going from CA to the east coast. Make sure box is 48 x 4 x 4 if possible. It's a standard size and won't be charged extra. I also print the postage at home as it always seems to be a bit cheaper.

You can go through them but I get a slight discount when I do it through PayPal/eBay. I signed up for a shipping discount via eBay years ago. So on average it saves me 1-2$ per shipment.

Same here. I don’t get these people saying it’s $30-$40 to ship?? I don’t know if people aren’t doing their homework or just using wrong information but I’ve shipped a set of irons and a driver from MD to CA and it was no more than $15.

I skip over eBay auctions where the shipping is a ridiculous price. Or I’ll ask the seller to charge me actual shipping as I know it’s not that high.

Just set up an account with usps.com and you can print shipping labels there.

I usually get a 20% discount for USPS through eBay and sometimes 30%.
