I am looking for an 8802 style putter with a heavier headweight (345 grams +). Anyone know of where I can find one for $300 or less? If not, does anyone know where I can send my 8802 to have more weight added to the head for a reasonable cost?

Thanks!

I am working in this problem right now. I have one I have designed but that does you no good. I think I saw a post somewhere that Machine has a 8802 coming out very soon, I am not sure on the weight, but hit up choepner(the machine putters rep)and I am sure he can help you out.

Jman2407 - We are currently in the final stages of releasing the MACHINE 8802-Style Putter.

Depending on materials, or target weights are going to range from 330 grams up to 355 and above in the basic blade back.

More info can be found in the MACHINE M8 Thread locted here:

Here is a "In Progress" Picture of the new MACHINE M8 Putters. On the far right is the blank after being CNC Milled. Beside it is one after Dave has started Grinding and Polishing it. On the left is one of Dave’s Frankenstein “host” design prototypes.

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance

Thanks

In addition to the beatiful Machine 8802 style putter, Mizuno will be releasing a

Bettinardi BC7 that is an 8802 style putter with the FIT insert. I think it's to be

release in April. It comes in different weighted heads based on the length.

8802s and Bullseyes, the best putters ever!

Take care,

TedP

At $250, the Mizuno Bettinardi BC7 is the putter I'll be keeping an eye out for. The new Anser style looks good, too.

The Yes blades are nice, but that Bettinardi will be a force to reckon with.

Also, I think that if you buy through a Mizuno dealer, you can get a longer shaft on a heavier head from the factory at no extra cost.

You can get a Designed By Captain Morgan for $400.00 and I will grip and ship it for that price. I still have a few left. I will also hold it for half down . I will do this on any of the putters I have in stock.. Call it the Byron lay- away plan..

What numbers of the series of 25 are still available? How much to add a sight line? What is the total head weight? How durable is the finish? Carbon steel?

Thanks!

I have a Yes Sophia that feels really heavy compared to my other blades. I bought it at Golfsmith. They gave it to me for $80 because it showed some wear from being out on the floor apparently for some time. My guess is that it is a 340-350 gram range putter head.

I'd definitely recommend dropping the extra coin and rolling with a Designed By Captain Morgan, I'd do so myself if lefty was an option. That's sight unseen based solely on pitbull808's review, bling looks, and previous experience working with Mr. Morgan.

Barring that, if price really is an issue, a PING Wrx'd G2 Tess isn't a bad way to go either. That's another one you can order brand new and to your specs. JAS Tess is my personal choice (love the feel, and the MOI is extremely high for a blade), usually comes in for less than $300 depending on condition, but it is really hard to come by and only available on the used markets. It's headweight is spec'd at 345/6 grams, though I've heard that they run 340-346 grams. Teardrop's TD-42 is a milled carbon blade, but might come in a little light at 335-340 grams.

Either way, good luck with your hunt.

I've recently given up on Anser / Aussie / Newport style putters and have recently made the switch to 8802 style putters. I'm gaming an old Wilson Walker Cup and love the feedback i get from it, just like an 8802. This caught my eye on Golfsmith and could not find any specs on it, but it looks good. Anyone gamed Snake Eyes Putters before...?

I did the opposite, but I dream of still using my 64'8802 or 63' Designed by AP or Scotty Tour Napa every now and again. Too invested in blades to give them up completely. Until they behave my Scotty Augusta Classic I will have to do the job. But I still look at this thread tempted to add another blade to the my collection = sickness

I found specs on the putter from that link I posted. Its at 350 - 355 if I remember correctly...if you click on the link just scroll to the bottom in the putter section. For the price from Golfsmith, I am almost certain to give this putter a go.

Rife's Bimini headweight is only 330 grams. I would have pulled the trigger if it was 345+.

... Actually the Bimini is 345. Add a little lead tape to the sole and you are at 345+

Probably over budget.... but there's a 350gm Miura KM-350

2008putter-km350-top.jpg

Am trying to resist the urge to get the head only, when i'm over in Houston (and also meanwhile picking up my Morgan Channel Island)

Reckon a black nickel KBS shaft'll go nicely in that thar hosel.......

Yeah the Snake Eyes Viper Tour SV1 putter is a really nice putter. It has a head weight of 355g. It also has a unique face milling pattern that performs really well. The cost of that putter is very low but the quality and feel of the putter is worth so much more. I've played the Older version of that putter and the weight of it is similar but the feel of the new one is so much better.

I'd definitely recommend this putter.
