Best budget ball out there?

looking to order soon
I typically order 2 or 3 dozen recycled balls at the start of the season and this year I am not sure what to play. I have come up with the following balls to see if there are any suggestions. I am looking for a good feel and maximum green side spin. I would also like a ball I can play a full wedge shot with and not chew up the ball.

Here are the budget balls I'm looking at:

Nike one Tour D - $11.99 dz
Srixion Z-start tour- $12.99/dz
Callaway Tour I- $8.99
Bridgestone B330S- $9.99

I play to a 14 handicap and have a driver swing speed of 98-101.

Noodle or Precept Laddie X are my favorite budget balls. Very soft, long, and feel great around the greens. Love putting with them as well.

Check The Golf Warehouse and Golfsmith for good deals. Like $19.99 for two dozen, $29 for three dozen, etc...

You don't have to hit rocks just to save some coin. Agreed on the Gamer above. Solid suggestion, but I like the Noodle and Laddie better personally.

I recently grabbed 90 brand-new Gamer V2s off of eBay for $60. For a good 3-piece ball, that price is frankly too insane to pass up. Just note that the other balls you listed are all likely going to spin more around the green than the V2, with the possible exception of the Tour D.

From that list only, I'd go with the Z-Star, personally.

Also like the Gamer V2. Tried them last year at the suggestion of a few friends. Are they as good as Pro Vs or the other top of the line balls $50 balls? Probably not. But I really enjoy playing them. The driver still carries pretty far and they're decently soft around the green. Plus I don't feel the need to search for a lost ball in the woods for 5 minutes like i do with the Pro Vs. It took me a little while to shed the thoguhts of the old "Rock-Flites" but now i tell everyone about these balls.

The Nike PD Soft can be had for 12.99/doz new and has been given some fairly high marks for a budget ball. I have been happy with it in my limited experience.

+1

Don't know the price of the Titleist DT SOLO but is a reasonably priced mid range ball over in Sunny Scotland bye.gif, Gives good Distance and has fairly good accuracy and green side control.

I think the Ebay sellers are getting word how great the Gamer V2 ball is for the money. No more $10 / dozen deals, The price is going up.

I'll second the Noodle balls. I just picked up 6 dozen for $50 at Rock Bottom golf.

I have noodles in my bag but am not a fan due to the lack of green side spin. I bought a dozen to start the season with so if I lost a ball or two I wouldn't care. I am looking for a mid season ball to play in my league that starts two weeks from today. Last season I played the Srixion ZURS but that ball was discontinued.

To the OP, I was in the same boat as you last fall. I decided to get a dozen each of the recycled 3A , thinking there would be plenty of good balls to do my own evaluation. I got the B330S, Penta, Z-Star and Tour I (z). Average price was about $8/doz, and the balls were in much better condition than I expected (from lostgolfballs). I got to make up my own mind. Z-Star won for me. Best way is to try them yourself, and ordering 3As is pretty economical.

I've been on a Bridgestone kick, mainly because I just dislike people blindly following what they here from others (Pro V1s) without actually doing any sort of research to see what will fit their swing. I evolved from the E6 to the 330 to the 330RX and I have found my ball in the 330RX. Found 30 for $30 on the bay in AAAA condition. The 330RX won't cure a bad swing but they don't spin off the driver just enough to keep me in the fairway more times than not. They won't suck back like a 330S but they will hop and stop off of a solid struck wedge. With the swing speed you have the 330RX would probably (read probably) benefit your game more than the 330S.

Another ball that I like this year has been the Callaway Chrome. Another hop and stopper with good Driver/Wood/Long Iron control.

Anyone tried the Wilson Duo? I was given a demo pack of two this weekend and they are great! I was a little skeptical at first since they are advertised as 40 compression, but I didn't feel like I lost much or any distance and they were very soft at impact on all clubs and spun sufficiently around the greens.

TM Burner Tour, awesome ball in it's pricerange. Was playing with a regular burner when me and a guy teeing of on a hole facing my tee came acros the same spot in the rough between the 2 fairways.
Apparently by mistake I looked doxn, saw a brand new TM and burner logo and asumed it was mine, he proceded to do the same only to notive by the end of the hole that I was actually hitting a tour version and no more my regular burner.
I immediatly fell in love with the greenside potential of this ball, loads of spin, soft of the putter and great distance of the driver.
This is my new budget ball. (previous srixon AD 333 but I don't like the feel around the greens with that one so much)

Ordered some Wilson Duo's and Elite 50's this week to see what they can do. Play Tommy Armour 845's or Silver Sott's from Sports Authority in spring/fall -- dirt cheap and not a bad ball at all. 845 is a 3-piece, low compression ball. Silver Scott is a 2-piece ball, also low compression -- wicked cheap! Tried the Gamer -- ballooned on my, but it could be more me than the ball crazy.gif
