Was this Target's mistake?

As I perused the Target spring offering of balls, I noticed the Pro v1 and the NXT Tours were on each others space....no biggy, scanner would ring correct. BUT, the NXT Tours were banded together (with a heavy rubber band) in a 2 dozen bundle. Well selected cashier rang the 24 balls for $29.99. I'm assuming this was the shelf stocker's error. I got more.

i just throw all the ProV1s in the garbage can at the store and then wait until they close and take all the trash to the dumpster in the back. sometimes you have to dig through a couple of rotten bags, but once you find them, you feel like you are making your mother proud.

You can't be for real about garbage hunting...can you?

Sure he can. In the US about 2-3% of stock on the shelves get lifted in some way, it ads up to $35+ Billion a year. I would assume some one has dumped balls in the garbage and got them later.

I used to run some golf shops. Caught a guy actually doing this with 4 sets of irons.

I am not judging the OP, but people always make this sort of thing out to be victimless crime, the BIG box store screwed up, my gain.

Not the exact same situation, but 20 years ago I had a good friend who worked at a larger chain store and screwed up tagging some merchandise with a much lower price. By the time his mistake was was caught, lots of items had been sold and he got fired. He didn't get fired for the screw-up in particular, but they accused him of being an inside man on a rip off scam. They could not prove it, but it didn't matter, no job for him and worse no reference. I am not going to say, his kids starved and his marriage broke up over it (he was 17 or 18 at the time) but it was a bad deal for him. Of course even if someone was kind enough to catch his mistake and point it out he may still have gotten fired, but all the same I would rather by the guy who points this out than the person who takes advantage of someone else's misfortune.

That's why, when asked by a member, I did not say which store.....there are a lot of Targets.

I don't get how people can think OP did anything wrong. He didn't tell somebody to price the items wrong and he just took advantage of the store's mistake in a [b]legal[/b] way. For people saying he probably cheats at golf you need to chill out. He didn't lie or steal anything. If anybody is on slickdeals, some of the best deals are posted this way.
