Lobber,

I've been playing the sterlings for six months the hardest part for me was always easy swings with the long irons instead of trying to go after the ball. Just my .02 on getting used to single length, have an appt to get fitted for the edels in early june can't wait to try them.

Add a bit more color on my fitting experience.

I've played +1/2" long, 2* up irons for a long time. We started out at 37.5" and 64*, which were my 7 iron specs basically, and that's where we ended. We tried different combos but kept coming back to that.

We did play with different weights & shaft profiles in each club, especially the 8 iron. I hit it pretty high & we tried the short iron profile in the 8. Results weren't as good so I stayed with mid profile.

The other interesting thing is that there were measurable launch & spin differences when we changed the weights in the club. I wouldn't have believed this until I saw it with my own eyes.

which way did the spin go with which weights? Did the best performance come from the weight that felt the best?

I know this is my first post on here but I visit the site frequently. I am a college golfer and will be a sophomore next year. I just got a fitting at the edel headquarters today and the fitting was unbelievable. Ryan (the fitter there) was very knowledgeable which is rare now a days. Being a better player with good ball stricking people will wonder why I'm making the change but the Edel SLS are unreal. You will not be disappointed. I will post pictures when they arrive but I can tell you that the are top notch and there is no other choice when it comes to single length. It almost feels like cheating how easy they are to hit.

Has anyone put a set of Paderson single length shafts into a set of cobra forged or other single length irons? I played half of the season with cobra forged one and half the season with variable length srixon 945’s (can I get a set of single length 945’s ha ha) Bottom line the single length set had much smaller dispersion, misses were better, as a result lower scores. I had dynamic gold s400 thru the set, 4 and 5 Iron soft stepped once. If I could get a little more height out of the long irons I would be a happy camper. Would love to hear if anyone has played with shaft weights and flexes thru the set, and what kind of results they saw.

It looks like the Paderson shafts for the SLS are proprietary to Edel and aren’t available for separate purchase. Im not sure how comparable the standard offerings from Paderson compare to the SLS shafts but it would be interesting to hear if anyone has experience with that.

I think you are correct. I could not find anywhere to just purchase the Paderson shafts. The one thing that still has me scratching my head was the step pattern on my first set of cobra forged one length irons, they were all over the place. Unless I am crazy the step pattern would be consistent thru the set since the head weights are consistent. The 4 and 5 Iron that I had soft stepped one time did not even match, the 4 Iron had a shorter distance to the first step than the 5, huh? Call me befuddled.

Just scheduled a fitting the week of Thanksgiving...I cannot even put into words how excited I am.

The cobra forged one length come with different step patterns from the factory because they actually use different shafts for each club throughout the set (e.g. 4 iron shaft for 4 iron, 5 iron shaft for 5 iron, etc.) instead of the same shaft throughout the set like in the F7 one length (e.g. the same 7 iron shaft for each club). Since each shaft is different, they'll also have different tip and butt trimming depending on the particular club hence the different step patterns. By using the KBS FLT, Cobra's idea was to give the lower lofted irons higher launch and the higher lofted irons lower launch, similar to what Edel is doing with the Paderson shafts in order to achieve adequate yardage gapping.

That said, it sounds like Edel's execution is more effective given that the Paderson shafts can be fine tuned to each golfer's preferences and characteristics whereas the KBS FLT are an off-the-rack offering.
