Nippon N.S. Pro Shafts

Recommended Posts

Recently got a set of good ol' MP32, stuck the 1050GH stiff into them, flight is much higher but definitely not ballooning. I am officially jumping off the Project X bandwagon and on the Nippon's.

Thats great news. I have a set of Scratch TD irons coming w/ the Nippon 1050 stiff(hopefully soon).

I currently have PX HL 5.0 in my i10's. I like them but I'm really looking forward to the 1050 stiff. The PX HL are slightly to soft but do launch high, but not to high, unless into the wind.

Ryan

I think you're on the right track. If you find PX 5.0 a little soft, you'll like what the 1050GH stiff offers. FYI, I switched from PX 5.5 flighted. Have fun with your scratch irons, too bad they don't offer much for us lefties, but I do love the new 1018 wedges.

Yeah I love my 1018's. I also almost went w/ the PX 5.5 too. I cant wait to get them.

Hi Everyone, I just picked up a set of cobra 3100 I/Hs that came with the Nippon NS Pro 1030H stiff shafts. I normally play the rac mb tps with the rifle flighted 6.0 shafts. I like the lightness and feel of the ns pro shafts so just wondering if anyone had that shaft (or similar) equiped with the mb tp heads? will they even fit?

Been doing alot of research on the 1050's. You're situation is perfect to provide me with valuable feedback. I currently play the rifle flighted 5.5 in Mizuno's and have played the 5.5's for many years. I'm looking to get a similar flight result, but with less weight and more comfort. Can you compare the rifle flight 6.0 to these 1050 shafts. Thanx

Got fit early this spring out with the Rifle and in with the 1150Gh Tour X cut soft ,they are like butter the fit for me has been amazing my tempo has been much improved. with out question they are the best shaft for me. I sampled approx. 25 different options in the fitting process and kept coming back to the Nippons.

I have a set of 09 Burners with Nippon NS950 Pro shafts installed. Can anyone give me any info on these shafts and how they may play in these heads?

Sorry, but I gotta say: AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL shafts!!!

I hit the 1050s in my buddy's Scratch SB-1 irons. We are just about the same specs. He is 1* up ,1/2" over and I am 2* up, 1/2" over. Every shot I hit was toe-heavy. Much more so than just 1* of lie angle. Big pushes to the right. No matter what I did, I couldn't correct the flight path and I am not a super-fast swinger. 105mph clubhead speed with the driver, 180 yard carry with the 5-iron.

There seems to be a ridiculous amount of head droop with this shaft. Overall weight and feel seemed to be fine, but performance was incredibly poor.

I'll stick with my DG-S300s thank you very much.

I went with 950s in my TaylorMade TP CBs and really like them -- very solid feel, great trajectory control, and point-and-shoot accuracy. Going lighter than the KBS Tours I had played concerned me initially, but I quickly found don't have to swing as hard to cover the same distance and that has improved my accuracy which means more GIRs. I will definitely look to have these in my future sets as well.

Older Topic I know, but figured I would put my .02 cents in. I have the Nippon 1150 X-Stiff soft stepped for close to 5 years now in my Epon’s and they have proved to be reliable, constant and great performers.

Feel on these has always been smooth, and I think where they really shine is those ¾ shots, or knock downs the shafts really work with any swing you attempt.

Driver SS = 104-106

6i carry is about 175

I hit the Nippon 950s today and man are they smooth. I love the feel of them no harshness at all. The only thing that has me a little worried is the amount of spin I was getting. I was hitting a 6i and I was getting on average 4800-5500 with my swing speed averaging around 88-92.

I'm wondering if I should get them hard stepped once or not?

I'm gonna try and hit them again this week and save the LM numbers and look at it alittle but closer. I compared them to the PX 95 and the kbs tour 90s. They felt the best by far out of the 3 and for no up charge with the new TM TP CB/MC combo it's a no brainer.

I am wondering if anyone has any feedback for me about getting them hard stepped or not? Also, do I have to worry about SW if I get them hard stepped?
