1991, looking to win my third club championship. 54-hole, medal play, playing in the last group (round #3). The 18th hole is a par 4 played from an elevated tee and measures 375 yards on the card, but the dogleg can be cut and the green has been driven by a few players over the years. It's a blind shot over a cluster of trees. I'd never driven this green but on this day I hit the most beautiful drive that carried the trees and rolled onto the front of the green. There was a small gathering of members around the green that confirmed my successful tee ball with a huge cheer. I two-putted for birdie and won the championship by one shot. It's the only time that I have ever driven that green!

The (lack of) sensation of striking one dead-center, and your eyes tracking and tracing as your ball doesn't leave its intended path. You're not actively trying to hold your finish but that swing was such a good one with rhythm and tempo that the finish holds itself.

I've never put a shot in from outside of 50 yards, even though I consistently shoot low to mid 80s. So when I finally hole out from any significant distance, that will feel amazing.

I'd say a nice 80-130 yard approach shot that lands within 5 foot. It makes the walk up to the green that bit easier.

Flushing a long iron and wood are cool, but there's something about 50-80 yard pitches that are a thing of beauty. A simple shot full of hypothetical mental calculations and club selections. It's always fascinating to me that I can choose between all of my wedges for a shot within those yardages, really depending on course conditions. Flushed irons are a close second, but nailing a 1/2 - 3/4 wedge within a few feet - yards, is always a warming feeling.
