What shot is the best feeling in golf?

For me personally, a perfectly struck Driver. I've only experienced it about twice, but that butter feeling where it feels like nothing was hit is just so pure. Considering how hard it is to control the driver, that to me is the best feeling shot.

Mostly PING clubs, with TaylorMade woods.

Yesterday I was on-song with my driver, which is rare. But the shot I screwed up went about 220y but blocked left, almost hitting a four-ball on a nearby tee. Anyway I wandered over, all of them eyeing me up, sniggering a little...

Anyway 130y uphill to the green, they waited, moved everything well out of the way and let me take my shot before they feed off. Grabbed my PW and somewhat nervously with an audience hit my shot. Straight as a die to about a yard from the pin. For birdie.

That was pretty sweet and drew a round of applause from the four guys.

Modern equipment is fantastic, but there was still nothing better than back in the day nutting a balata ball with a persimmon driver, especially if the tee box was back in the woods or had a solid fence behind you and you got extra sound feedback. Almost as good as the first best feeling.

12-15 Ft birdie putts. Had a couple of them at the Waldorf a couple days ago. It demoralizes any shot your opponents think they flush.

Mine is probably a 10 foot or longer putt that you know is going in at the half way point.

Canning a 20-yard chip and run for a birdie. I miss the green, but still pick up a stroke and probably a skin. Plus, the old timers really howl about how lucky i was!

Flushing a full wedge feels pretty amazing, that said, any flushed shot where it doesn’t feel like a ball even existed is good to me.

With all due respect to MtlJeff, it is a 2 or 3 iron flushed from the fairway that flies as high as a wedge with a little draw.

My 3 wood maybe the longest club I hit off the turf, but it is still far easier to hit a great shot with than a 2 iron.

Taylormade Sim2 10.5° (turned down to 9°) - Tensei White 60 stiff

Ping G400 3 and 5 Woods - Diamana D+ Limited 70 stiff

Ping G400 22° Hybrid - Diamana D+ 90 Stiff

Ping i200 5-UW - Modus Tour 105 stiff

Vokey SM4 54° and 58° - DGS-300

I'm with the long iron contingent... the longerer the better ;-)

Nowadays have a nice 'blobby' 19 degree iron which is pretty much as forgiving as a hybrid...

But still have my 1 iron...

One time, the day after reading George Knudson's "Natural Golf Swing", was swinging well (at my usual driving range) - so pulled it out & hit the best iron shot i've ever hit.

The swing felt perfect, the ball shot off like a cruise missile, the sound and feel at impact...

The bonus was, as this was in Bangkok, I could put the club down, take a couple of steps to the back of my bay, sit down and order a jug of beer from a waitress.

Sat there with a beer and a dazed grin on my face for quite some time, thinking that all was very, very well with the world.

It doesn't live in my golf bag any longer... but comes out occasionally when needed

Any perfectly struck forged MB iron. The sound, feel, turf interaction then watching the next 3-4 seconds unfold thinking "That S.O.B. has a really good chance of going in!" Then watching it hit really close to the hole and staying there. Ive only had 1 hole in one and that almost turned to white noise as soon as it dropped so i cant really recall the feeling that well.

"bay" ?

Does this mean you were hitting of a mat ?

If so, negative "points" :)

Now if it was off grass .... or better still .. hardpan .... downhill lie ... then :)

I've been playing 15 years now.....And i am ready to state that for me, there is no better feeling in golf than hitting a 3 wood off the deck and hitting a par 5 in two. Let me state the reasons:

1) It's the longest club you hit off the deck, so hitting it solid and accurate and watching it rocket off a long way is a testosterone fueling endeavor

2) It's one of the hardest clubs to hit off the deck, so there is satisfaction in that

3) Hitting a par 5 in two is pretty much an automatic birdie, so that feels nice.

There are probably other reasons. Anyway, yesterday i finished my round (caution, non-passive brag alert coming) by hitting a 269yd 3 wood to about five feet.

I can't think of another shot that would've felt better

Ha... I can relate to this and just had one, albeit for birdie.

I pulled my drive short left on a par 5 into trees. Second shot was a punch off the root ball around the base of a pine and I had a very limited swing-- I made it back to the rough at least with a clear shot to the green. Still 225 out from the rough I hit a 5 wood to 5 feet and made the putt for birdie. Felt awesome!
