Classic Club was nice and in great shape but TO ME it was by far the least scenic / pretty course.

All of the courses we played were pretty fresh off over seed, so had some path only, and a few places greens were a bit slower, but in great shape.

Indian Wells and Shadow Ridge are a must.

Has anyone played the Shadow Hills courses before in Indio? Looks like a fun Par 3 18 hole North course, and a full length 18 hole south course. We are just staying close by in Indio, but don't think i've ever heard it mentioned anywhere here before. Just looking for some feedback. The par 3 course looks like fun for an afternoon.

Heading out there January 1st-3rd. Staying at the JW Marriott so going to spend a day at the resort and play the palms and desert.

Will be heading there the morning of 1st and coming from LAX. Anywhere along the route worth stopping and playing?

Will probably get 2 other rounds in Palm Springs. What’s the current consensus on rankings? Would prefer a location we could play 36 and not play the same course, but will have a car if needed.

There’s 36 holes right across the road at Desert Willow. Firecliff is more scenic but both are good courses.

Indian Wells golf resort has 36 holes also and both courses are good.

some courses close for Jan 1.

It gets dark early that time of year so you need to tee off early in order to play 36.

Just played 7 rounds. I will say all courses came well out of overseeding, and as normal, greens are still in general a bit slower, but all playing at basically the same speed, and in all courses greens were in very nice shape. Maybe 9.5-10 on stimp. My personal ranking was:

PGA WestMountain Vista San Gorgonio (surprised here on how good the conditions were, plus the whitest fluffiest sand of the bunch). I liked the strategic positioning of the traps too.Mission Hills Dinah ShoreLa Quinta Dunes (enjoyed the challenge a lot, plus I paid $49 on GN)Escena, great course for last round as is by the airport. Mission Hills Player course. Good shape, but disappointed at the staff treatment. I got the impression they only care about their members. Plus I did not like the challenge (I am not the best player, but I consider this an easy course)

Palm Desert CC, way lower ranked than the others. I think is a tourist trap. I thought because I got a good price it was a good deal, but it was not. The greens were good, but the general condition was lacking. I stayed at the Marriott Desert Springs, but did not play the courses because I have done in the past, and compared to others, at $105 they were too expensive. But I walked them, and they were in very good shape.

I took a little trip to CA this past weekend to see the extended family. Stopped at the Stadium Course at PGA West on my way on Friday. I picked the right tees to play from so I was having a blast. My playing partners picked 1 tee behind me and looked to be exhausted by the 7th hole. Very visually deceiving course from the tee though but that's what made it fun for me. Very good conditions and I was very surprised it was not CPO with the PGA tournament coming up in a few weeks. The starter said the greens were an 11. I'm not sure if I believed that because I putted way too well for them to be an 11 lol. I'm glad I was able to play it. I'll have to venture back out there another time and play the other courses at PGA West.

I’ve enjoyed playing The Stadium course as well. It might be the easier of the courses they play in the Tournament. The right tees make things so much more enjoyable.

Had a great trip getting 6.5 rounds in at some great prices.

Flew in to LA late on the 30th and headed to Moorpark the next day. Got onto the 2nd hole which is probably the highest point of the course and could barely stand without being blown over. Had a fun little round there and met up wth some friends to celebrate the New Year.

Woke up on the 1st and headed to the Marriott Desert Springs where we had a Villa rented and got in a round on both courses there. Started with the Palm and then moved on to the valley. Both were in great shape and a good warmup for the next day.

Headed over to LaQuinta the next morning and played the Mountain Course. Was my favorite course of the trip and very scenic. We headed over to PGA West after that, had some lunch, and jumped on the Nicklaus Course. It was in really good shape and was playing tough. Met up with some great guys from Reno and had a great round.

The last day we headed over to Terra Lago and started out on the North course. Very tough course with all of the elevated greens and the bunkers were in horrible shape. Besides the bunkers, everything else was fine and had a fun round. We jumped over to the South and knocked out the front 9 after and made a good decision to try and get a head start on the traffic back to LA.

Great few days of golf that were very reasonable with all the of the Underpar deals.

36 at Marriott for 2 players was $110, 36 at LaQuinta/TPC west $210, and both rounds at Terra Lago were 170 for the 2.

We love going to Scottsdale, but Palm Springs may have moved to that top spot.

Those UnderPar.com deals are awesome and just too good to pass up on those facilities with unlimited golf at multiple courses. I did 45 holes in one day at Terra Lago last year. The courses seem to be pretty dead in the afternoon, so you can fly around there until the sun goes down. That was enough Terra Lago for me for a good 5 years or so .. lol
