Actually, yeah it is. All professional sports are entertainment. Without people paying to watch it likely would not exist. And especially at a pro/am it is.

Prominent, high-integrity preacher (career completely free of misbehavior) told story of a person that wrote him to share appreciation for his sermon transcripts that he received in the mail. Person preferred not to be in the presence of the preacher, wishing instead to keep a distance in order to preserve and not jeopardize the esteem reserved for the preacher and his sermons. IMHO, you make a good point, Cubanstogie, notwithstanding the use of never. Sometimes immediacy of mundanness and familarity weakens the 'magic' that we often find as having significance.

I can't believe some people are dumb enough to think that there is some "right" to be paid for playing golf.

Shelton is a dork, a nobody, and maybe a jerk. That's just a really bad pro-am draw - as much as these spots costs you would have been well within your rights to give him *grief* and advise the Tour of his behavior.

I’ve had the opportunity to play in multiple pro-ams with the following pros:

John Cook - Actually played with him in two different years in the Honda, one of which we won the pro-am. Absolutely a tremendous guy!

Joey Sindelar - Even nicer than his reputation, which is stellar.

Craig Stadler - Another great guy. Actually gave us an apology on how he played on the front nine, and then put on an absolute clinic on the back nine.

Nick Faldo - This was actually a dinner prior to the pro-am, and he was at our table. This was pre-broadcasting, and as his playing career was winding down. In contrast to his reputation at that time, he was friendly, talkative, and funny! Great dinner!

Christie Kerr - LPGA Tour Championship pro-am just before she hit it big! She was very nice, but not overly engaging, which was not a problem, as she seemed relatively shy. But in a very classy move, all of us received a personal note from her about two weeks later thanking us for participating and supporting the LPGA.

All of these experiences were basically “luck of the draw”. Guess I am luckier than the OP.
