How Far Will You Travel to play golf locally?

Gas prices are finally coming down but, how far are you willing to travel for a round of golf or two?

I used to drive 20 miles to golf practice evryday when i was playing college golf

My course is about 7 miles but I have no problem driving 70 miles for a nice course.

Locally no more than 45 minutes. I barely have time to play any more, adding a long drive would be killer. Luckily, there are several top-notch courses within 20-30 minutes from me.

 

For a special trip? I'll drive 2-3 hours. There's a course in OH called "Little Mountain", my buddy says it's a must-play, might take a trip out there in the spring.

I drive 40-50 miles to play golf atleast 3 to 4 times a year. I probably own the record for long distance. Once drove from Boston to Beth Page Black in one day to play it. That was a long day. About 500 miles round trip.

I normally travel anywhere between 5 miles for local courses or 30 to 150 miles for some other course in a 30 minute to two hour range.

I have absolutely no problem travelling to a very GOOD course. Actually, I tend to drive quite a bit to play the courses on my "need to play" list!

Usually try to stay with in 2 hours of home. We usually try to play a new course every few weeks. We've probably hit about 7 or 8 courses this summer most ranging from an hour to 2 hours away.

 

Here is a review on Little Mountain Country Club. Sounds nice, haven't made it up there yet. May have to add that course to the list.

most of the courses I play are 20-25 miles away, some even 95 miles away, but i have also driven 4.5 hrs and flown 1000 miles for remax long drive and pinnacle distance challenge qualifiers!

Usually only within 20-30 miles. Of course in DC, that can be an eternity depending on the day! But with my wife, it ends up being only a big 15 mile circle.

ummm well on oahu we can play any course we want on the island and the most it would take to get there is 45 minutes. with about 25 courses open to the general public and about 13 more private or military courses on oahu there are alot to choose from... :cheesy:

75 minutes is about my max. When I play, its on a Sunday morning before 7:30. That way I can be home before noon to spend time with the kids. My 7 year old has his first year of football with pads. His games are Sunday at 11:00 so golf is becoming even more scarce.

I have driven 3.5 hours to play and return that day. Many times I have travelled 2.5 hours to another country....Vancouver to Seattle.

Generally 1.5 hours is my limit of driving. I play at the same club most of the time, but I like to experiment at diffenent courses in the area.

I don't drive more than 30 minutes for golf. Too many courses close by that unless it is something special (Pinehurst, Myrtle Beach, Charleston) I don't drive too far. I've got a course less than 5 minutes down the road and a very nice range across the street from the course.

My max is about an hour and a half. May travel a little farther depending on the course.

I drive 10 minutes to play at my club a couple times a week. Having said that, I balance that out with a 4 hour drive to Bandon Dunes twice a year.

My home course is just a 10 minute cycle from my house. To play local tournaments I will usually drive no more than an hour away.

Right around were i live within 30 minutes driveing i have a ton of decent ot really nice courses. But within 10 mins i have 1 high end, 2 medium and 1 ok course.

Local 9 hole course is 12 miles, I drive one way 72 miles for a nice (not great) 18 hole course; If I cross the border (into Canada customs is a bite) to a nice (almost great) 18 hole course on Lake of the Woods I travel 40 miles one way. Gas I could handle but not on top of the Canadian exchange rate!

45 minutes is the farthest I will go. I like to play and get, do not want to make it an all day affair unless I am taking my boy with me or playing a tourny. :cheesy:

i live in san francisco and my weekly range is as far south as monterey and northeast to lake tahoe, so i figure, my range is about 250 miles each way, that is my max, if it gets further, i rather fly !!!!!

Rountiely I'll drive up to an hour. I'll drive farther to meet up with the guys or play a real nice course.
