I actually had the chance to meet Kid Rock once lol. Drunken Vegas episode...

Long story short, he tells ya how it is and doesn't sugar coat it. I enjoyed the 5 minutes I got to talk to him. If you don't get all star struck and ask for autographs every second, he's a bad a$$. Actually a pretty well spoken dude which surprised the hell outta me hahaha

Glad to see him playing golf! Also surprised with the TMag choice?

I believe KR has a brewery in Michigan and I believe KR employs many people in a city where jobs are scarce and hope is even scarcer. If everyone were judged by what they did 20+ years ago we'd all be labeled a-holes etc....

I got a lot of respect for Kid Rock. I am not a fan of his music, but when you see some of the things he does for the people of this country and Detroit(and I am sure there is more that is not publicized), you realize he is more than just a musician. Generalized statements about him because he dresses a certain way or his music isn't to your liking says a lot about you as a person.

Yeah Kid Rock is a terrible person…playing in a PGA Tour event that costs $15-20k (maybe more….I know it's gone up over the years) and most of that, if not all goes to charity. Horrible person. I think a lot of people judge him from the past, but if you've actually seen him recently live in concert….you'd be surprised…..I was. He's very talented and I have a lot more respect after seeing him in concert.

Boy, I hope he doesn't pop in to read this thread. Probably be a quick GolfWRX membership stint for 'ole Bob Ritchie. Kid Rock is good for golf, whether you want to believe it or not or admit it, everyone. I can't claim to be a huge fan of his music, though there's been a few good ones over the years (his first mainstream album was kick a$$). I can guarantee I would have a blast with him on the course. Seems like he falls under my category of "guys I'd like to have a beer with". As for the guy who's mom got turned down (or turned out), er, I mean treated bad by him in junior high or whatever- stop. Just stop. I'd add my $.02 and tell you what is wrong with sharing that story, but the fact that I'd have to do so and share personal anecdotes about why it's not a good idea tells me that you're probably too young to get it anyways if anyone did try. Basically, you're mom's not perfect, and just because she has something bad to say about a guy who is now a mega celebrity doesn't make him actually a bad guy. Nor does it make your mom a liar or bad person. It just means she shared her version of the story with you, her offspring that is expected to be on her side. Laugh when she makes the reference, share it with your buddies at happy hour, but don't come into a internet chat forum with this many perfect strangers and think it's cool to call someone names or try to soil their reputation based on your mom's personal story about him from 30 years ago with absolutely no context.

Kid rock used to blare on the Donzi up and down the intercoastal in Jupiter, FL. Then on the way to T's Lounge. Good times.

Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp came out when I was in the Army, a buddy of mine from the Detroit area got the CD from a buddy back home. When he first got it, we were redeploying home from my second tour in Bosnia. We spent the last two weeks escorting convoys from Tuzla, Bosnia to Taszar, Hungary a 12 hour drive or so, slept for 4-6 hours, then returned back to Tuzla for the 12 hour return drive. We kept a boom box (with a crapload of "D" batteries) in the HUMMWV and cranked it up for the whole drive. I'd say we listened to "Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp" all the way through at least 3 times each way, and usually more.

*edit- This is just one of many reasons why, though I may not love all of his music, I am aware of and respect this man for his contributions to the military.
