Will this mean the average drive for a WRX'er is now 400 yards?
I will be exposed, although I have never claimed to be long. My guess is probably closer to avg. I will be interested to see how much swing speed I have lost, it sure feels like I have slowed down some. Age sucks.

R1 10 deg, 44.25 inches, Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver TiNi Stiff, 67 grams. Everything was fit for me by my friend at Golfsmith. I once worked there as well, and build clubs myself, so this thing is pretty close to perfect for me. TMaG can throw everything they've got at me!

Oh yea. And to the lucky members going.

Post your twitter accounts. I want to follow this as it unfolds.

I found on our trip that the quickest and easist means of updating live through the event is via twitter and later in the evening a detailed roundup on the site.

What about dispersion? Will that one of the peramiters?
Apples to apples as Tom Kroll of TM said. Similar swing speeds, etc. Throw out the old maids. We'll lay down the parameters in the live coverage.

None of that matters Doc. It's the number on the card that matters. And having fun.

this is my biggest question too! this whole thing is about distance, but if I only gained a yard or two but tightened up my drive dispersion a bit, I would view it as a win, even though I would not get much, if any, cash from that happening...

If these guys are hitting it longer but spraying it off the map, I'd guess their review will include this information ... and their pockets will be heavier.

So these are the numbers that SLDR will be going up against. There is plenty of room for improvement if they can get my launch up a little and spin down sub 2000 while maintaining BallSpeed. In the picture, the yellow circle was my 20xi-x and the white circle was a Prov1x, SR3, and a TM ball.
I will provide all my current info if you guys want before we go, that way if they are doing live updates you can see the differences. On one of the previous couple pages I did put up my trackman results with my current driver setup.

Current setup: Yes I was custom fit
Callaway Razr Fit Extreme 9.5 head
Setting is on open so loft is down to more like 8.75
Diamana Ilima 70x tipped 1.25
Finished length is 44.75
Ball of choice is 20XI-X but I am not against switching if something gives me the performance I am looking for.

Current numbers: on trackman 2 days ago
SS: 126-28
BS: 186-89
LA: 11-11.5
Spin: 2500 rpm
AOA: -1.5

The loft on my current setup is leaving me vulnerable to lofting up quite easily (which I know going into this). If Taylormade puts me into a 10.5 and gets me fitted into a shaft that gets my launch up to about 13- 14 and also lowers my spin rate into the 17-1800 range while retaining ball speed.. I will be a prime example of the loft up challenge being the real deal.

With a higher swing speed however, I am curious at what point is a higher launch angle no longer the optimal number? Or is higher launch always better?

So what are the perameters of this comparison? Is it expected that everyone will Loft Up as per the 1st vid?

So if loft up doesnt work yet you get more gains with a lower lofted SLDR what does that tell us about Loft Up?

Apples to Apples

Also I think a true Apples to Apples comparison would be for those showing up with unfitted off the rack drivers with stock shafts should only compare their gamers to an off the rack SLDR with the stock shaft. Not an exotic aftermarket shaft. However this should not limit them from trying something else with an exotic shaft afterwards. But in the Spirit of Apples to Apples this is only fair.

But If you have been fitted for your gamer then Taylermade should be able to try out any combo they like on you.
Thunder,

I'll be interested to see what they fit you with. I have to think you will get a powerful shaft to go with your swing. Part of what killed the R11 irons with me was the fact that the stiffest shaft they could put in there was X-100 parallel compared to my normal DG Tour X7. That kind of sets them up for failure.

I have to think with $5k on the line, they will want to set you up properly. I'm amazed that you are hitting the ilima. You must have very low spin.

Tbh I was astonished when I was fit into the Ilima myself. I must have a unique swing dynamic because some of the low low shafts I spin a lot. For me it is kind of like 2 negatives equal a positive for the driver shaft

Interesting that the first two to come out and speak about being picked are low cap high SS players. I hope that as the other 18 are announced that we will see a mix of low to high HC's and a wide range of SS's. IF all that are picked are the more beastly players I will have zero faith in any of the results so I hope that's not the case. Also I bring this up only because I strongly believe that the "low and forward" technology may only have its real benefits for the high SS players. No scientific evidence on my part and I'm no engineer but it does seem that the players getting the most out of the SLDR are the guys on tour and the better amateurs that can bring it at impact. We shall see.

This will be interesting to be sure. I am typically a low ball hitter with the driver. I can hit it further on average with a bit more driver loft than my normal 9.5 degrees. My problem is that the higher I hit my drives the more wild I get. No need to hit it 10 yards further but into the trees. So yes, I will be very interested in dispersion.
