What an experience. The folks at TaylorMade were amazing. Their professionalism and attention to detail was appreciated. I'm still pinching myself to be sure that I wasn't dreaming.

Went from my old gamer to my new SLDR 12 deg with an Oban Kyoshi. Took it straight to the course yesterday and trusted it the entire round.

I was a doubter before the trip, but this experience has made me see them in a whole new light.

Big thanks to GolfWRX and Zach for being our host. And to the guys at TaylorMade, Brian, Dave, Tony, Sean and Tim(who fitted me), thanks for an experience of a lifetime!

Thanks for the numbers. Huge difference in spin of 1162 RPMs. That alone will account for your distance increase. It appears the SLDR head is much more less spinning then the 913D3 head. How was your dispersion?

When were you fitted at the TPI? In that time, how would you describe your progression? Game is getting better? Haven't played a lot?
Right when the 913s were released, I think November 2012 or something. My handicap is lower now than it's been in years hitting the same amount of fairways, just longer.

I started threads after both the TPI and Kingdom fittings so there is more info there if you need it.
Scratch i'm a bit confused buddy and need you to clarify. I just read through your Kingdom fitting topic. In there you stated, "We then went back out to the range. Hit my 913/Oban White on Trackman. This is a driver that I have never hit on a monitor, but it works on the course. I knew coming into the fitting that my numbers could probably be beat."

You stated above you were fit at TPI and in your Kingdom Topic you stated you never hit the 913D3 on a monitor. Is that correct? What kind of TPI fitting would be "monitor-less"?

Found your TPI Topic and now I'm more confused.

Here are your final numbers with the driver:
Head: 2013 Titleist 913 D2 (8.5 degrees in B1 setting)
Shaft: Speeder TS 6.2X (tipped 1 inch)
Stats (Averages):
Ball Speed: 158 mph
Launch: 12.6 degrees
Spin: 2256 rpms
Smash: 1.49
Carry: 265 yards
Land Angle: 40.4 degrees

How are you getting 1000 RPM of more spin by going from the 913D2 to the 913D3?

Your 913D2 numbers yielded similar results as the SLDR, right?

For all the so called doubters who keep bothering everyone in this thread, you might want to read the first post in this thread about the challenge itself because it appears you are assuming things about this that nobody ever said were true.

The point of the challenge is very clear: TMAG says they are going to FIT you into a new SLDR, and compare numbers apples to apples with your gamer. Then, they'd give 25 bucks for every yard lost or gained, and they expected most would gain yards. Well, guess what you doubters, that's exactly what actually happened. Nobody ever claimed that everyone was optimally fit before, and nobody ever made any promises about dispersion. They said they'd fit guys into SLDR's and they thought they could get most people more distance compared to their gamer, and it appears that this mission was accomplished. Does that mean the SLDR is the perfect driver for everyone? Of course not, but this thread didn't say that, just that TMAG thought they could get guys more distance with the SLDR, which they did.

I wonder what the numbers would have been had they paid for your gamer to go longer. ;)

All jabs aside, i learned a lot from this and enjoyed the updates. I hope someday to have the opportunity to do one of these.
They were paid the same. SLDR or original gamer
I got 250 for my r1 going 10 yds further. I did have some trouble so the fitters had their hands full with me, but Daryl put his best effort and about 45 mins into getting that sldr right. I think if he had just used my r1 shaft, the kuro kage, he would've gotten better results.

What an incredible experience. I can confidently say that I have never been as exhausted from playing golf as I am right now.

As it turns out, my "self-fit" 913 gamer matches my swing pretty well and the SLDR was only able to beat it by three yards.

The full report is to come and definitely one of my favorite parts of the trip was meeting some great WRXers!

Here are your final numbers with the driver:

How are you getting 1000 RPM of more spin by going from the 913D2 to the 913D3?

Your 913D2 numbers yielded similar results as the SLDR, right?
I averaged a 21 yard gain coming from a 913 D2. I hit 10 fairways at a pretty narrow Stadium Course. I'm definitely an SLDR believer and lofted up from 9.5 - just over 11 degrees. This thing is an absolute cannon when you hit it off the top of the face and is way more forgiving than I expected.

I'll have a nice recap coming as well. What a great experience and an awesome group of guys.

Rob (HipCheck), thanks again for putting everything together and making sure everything was taken care of.

Taylormade couldn't have been a better host. They really went above and beyond with everything.

Whats in my B.A.G?

Well said bph7...!!

People need to quit hating on SSSsssooooooooo much on these boards. Don't know if it's jealousy or what, but grow up people. Be glad that something great happened for these guys. I know I am happy for them. Would I like to have been selected, of course, but I wasn't, so be it. Combing through garbage post after garbage post makes it very difficult for people, like myself, who are acutally trying to learn something from this post. And by "learn something" I mean this: I have an SLDR that I picked up and with seeing how it worked in these guys hands, I can hopefully learn new setting for mine.

Congrats again guys, let it all sink in and enjoy every memory...!!

It's funny how the flights coming back always fly faster, with no delays/weather/etc. I don't think I've ever been as stressed for making a connection as I was when I flew down to Florida.

Looking forward to the recaps once guys get settled.

Wow, what a memorable two days of fittings, golf, food and making new friends in Dallas, TX. I can't say thanks enough to Tom Kroll and Ryan (our TMPL fitter) for being incredible hosts and generally awesome people to hang out with as well as Bjackson for helping make sure everything was well documented and running smoothly. Everything about the trip was first class all the way with open and candid conversation about the technology, TM marketing ideas and the game in general.

Thursday: We met up with the group at the hotel before dinner, had a few brews and some great food. Tom gave us the opportunity to ask some questions about our opinions on TaylorMade, the equipment, marketing strategy etc. We got to know each other and ended up with a quite unique group. If I remember correctly we had an attorney, a pharmacist, a business consultant, a caddy and a college student in the mix with handicaps from scratch to my 9.

Friday: we got up bright and early, had some breakfast at Glen Eagles country club then got a tour of the TaylorMade performance fitting lab and hit the range to warm up. It was cold with a steady 15-20 mph head wind so we were all hoping we'd be able to get loose enough to put up some good numbers. I drew 2nd to be fit and hit a few solid baseline shots with my previous gamer a Superfast 2.0 TP 9.5 with Graphite Design MD-6 stiff.

The Fitting Process: About my previous gamer...I hit lots of shafts and picked this combo specifically for the fade bias since my miss is a hook. It turns out my tinkering around on launch monitors on my own was better than I thought. The launch monitor spit out an average LA of 15.4 degrees and 2,100 rpm spin for an average carry of 235 yards and 260 total which isn't a bad base line for my 100 mph swing speed.

Since the spin was already so low with my gamer Ryan our fitter started me off with a 430 head for lower spin. We tried a few different loft heads with the Aldila Tour green which I did not care for. We also tried the Tour AD BB-6S which was decent but a bit too low launching and stiff feeling for my taste. We settled on the Graphite Design DI-6S in a 9 degree head cranked a bit open with the weight all the way out at the toe and got to 14.7 LA (I wanted a slightly lower launch due to TX wind) and the magical 1,700 RPM for an average 246 carry and 275 total.

I picked up 15 yards on slightly higher ball speed (143 mph SLDR, 141 mph 2.0TP), slightly more ideal launch into a strong head wind and about 400 rpm less spin. I was really happy with the setup on the range. We were also lucky enough to be setup with a SLDR fairway and hybrid. I was also the lucky winner of a 12 degree SLDR Mini driver with Speeder 57 stiff shaft for a complete woods "package". The mini driver is awesome, perfect for tight short par 4's or anytime you must hit the fairway.

The Swap: After fittings we were off to Gentle Creek golf club which was a hidden gem I had never heard of despite living 15 mins away. Here's where things got interesting. I hit so many balls in the morning (we were guessing 300 a person) that I was worn out and my swing was quite sloppy. All my drives on the front 9 were ugly low hooks, nothing like what we saw on the range during the fitting. Luckily I was riding with Tom Kroll and he immediately saw the problem and handed me a 12 degree 460 SLDR. I immediately hit it high and straight so we swapped my DI6 into the 12 degree head cranked open to 10.5 and I hit it pretty well the rest of the day.

The lesson learned is that the raw numbers on the launch monitor is important but how the club performs on the course is the final verdict. I think I was the only one out of the 5 that didn't absolutely kill their newly fitted SLDR right off the bat. But with the swap to the 12 degree 460 head playing at 10.5 I drove the ball pretty well the rest of the round Friday and the round we played today at Cowboys golf club. I'm happy with the results of the 12 degree head playing at 10.5 and I'm going to get on a LM soon to confirm the numbers are as good as they look to the eye. Thanks again to Tom for recognizing what was happening and putting me in what works best for my game on the course. The TM guys are golfers first and foremost and truly want everyone to get the most out of their equipment all marketing and sales motives aside.

All in all I'm floored with the experience and can't thank TaylorMade and Golfwrx enough for the opportunity as well as the rest of the Dallas group for some great times that I won't soon forget. We had some crazy big hitters (123 mph for amackey10) and some great players in the group. Now on to the pics....

Club speed and ball speed drop, yet he gains 24 yards!
Q... That was after 6 different heads, at least 5 shafts per head, and 8-10 swings with each. I had already hit 50 or so balls prior to the first head shaft combo and not near enough coffee in my system yet. :)

Hey Prorobo do you know if there were other guys there with 913's? I'm driving the ball better than ever with my self-fit 913 including a short stint with a 460 SLDR. Thanks

I'll get my review up in the next couple of days. I am waiting on "Fish" to send me all my numbers and try to relax for a day or so. I have never in my life hit so many golf balls in a short period of time. Besides, I have 36 to play tomorrow and have to figure out how to get stretched out and loose. (men's group in the morning and wife wants to play in the afternoon).

I will say this though. Robin English (The Kingdom manager at Reynolds), Tom "Fish" Fisher, and Jeff (TM Fitter) were phenomenal. There is no way I can express how grateful I am to have been chosen for this trip and express in words the utmost respect for how they run their programs.
