How Bad Is Martin Hall On The Golf Channel

I cannot stand this guy, even in the 10 second mini lessons he does for commercial spots. I'm not talking about him personally, just his teaching style/philosophy. He seems nutty and incoherent. His swing doesn't even look that good. Where did this guy come from and how did he land that gig?

I think he's alright. Breed is much better but he's ok. What's her boobs make the show much more watchable though.

He was the best of the three Instructors who were in the contest for the show. TGC gave each person a 1 hour show (the other two were Gary Players son and woman who's name escapes me, but I know she was married to Dan Janson). Viewers voted on who shoukd get their own show, with Hall obviosly winning. When I've watched it, I think his best stuff comes out when he has a pro as the co-host. When it's just him and the airhead... Game over

That man has more knowledge and experience than 99% of WRX combined. You don't get to where he is without having at least 12 legs to stand on.

I think he's great. He tries to make it somewhat interesting, which is no easy task.

Martin's rolling r's in his diction -- some of his rhyming names for drills -- That stuff does sort of annoy. But I find most of his advice interesting, a little of it has been very impressive, and a little I completely disagree with.

As to Holly Saunders -- her game and swing isn't bad. She plays the role of "student" well enough I suppose. The producers likely knew Martin needed an offsetting character. I can make judgments about her hair and makeup (among other things)... but I would still end up circling back to the fact while I am annoyed by some things on the show...I would miss it if it were suddenly gone. And I agree that Breed represents the best of the best.

I'm not into hating on this commentator or that -- Tim Rosaforte is about the only one that annoys me enough to earn my mute button -- but I don't honestly hate on the man. I miss Stephanie Sparks.

I don't watch or subscribe to the Golf Channel any longer (even when I had it, I only utilized it for tournament telecasts, not other programs), so I can't speak to his on-air persona or swing advice, but I gotta say that Martin Hall's "rope" drill was a life changer for me. Dan Carraher referred it to me in one of our lessons and it has helped my swing immensely.

I watch the Holly show on Wednesday night. I seem to recall an old guy talking about golf but I don't remember his name. How funny would it be to be at the range with all his training aids at the same time. You would have to get there way early in the morning to start setting them up not to mention have a moving truck to get them there.

The pro comes out.....WHAT ARE YOU DOING???....Im working on a lesson plan.

I love S&T too, but Mike and Andy would put on a "snoozer" show if they replaced Marty Hall or Mike Breed. The S&T Boys would need the SI Swim Suit Models to keep me awake.

I am fan of Martin Hall's show. I like the 'accent', hardware store swing contraptions, and somewhat simplistic approach to instruction (not to claim that I've ever tried to build and/or use one of his devices).

Note to self:

i) Travel to Home Depot;
ii) raid plumbing aisle;
iii) build crazy looking contraption;
iv) bring to range;
v) assemble;
vi) appear insane/fanatical;
vii) bring home;
viii) disassemble in front of wife;
ix) appear insane/fanatical;
x) possibly improve.
