In a year of fantastic stories, her's is at or very near the top. Considering she's not huge off the tee, it's a bit of a surprise to see a stiff flex driver.

It's funny to see all the men throwing 2 irons and driving irons in the bag this week trying hit the ball as lower to stay out of the wind and the lady who wins plays a freakin' 9 wood lol. Such a different game.

It generates more speed for added distance. Now I'm off to check eBay for a 9 wood!

Great to see the 3-wood which won her the Open. I played that shaft in a driver a few years ago - should have kept it to try in a 3-wood.

Love the 9-wood. Note to self: pick up a 7-wood.

It is always interesting for me to see what the ladies use for iron shafts. And, duly noted, she uses regular shafts in her wedges, as I do.

It's a longer club than the corresponding iron and a wider face. It's larger and more forgiving than the iron as well.

I like the set up. What I find interesting is the Stiff flex shafts in the woods and the light Nippon's in R flex in the irons.

That makes sense...I misunderstood the original comment to mean that higher lofted woods generate more speed.
