So I went back over to Golf Town today and luckily the monitor was working. I hit the 714 AP1 with xp95 r300, it felt ok but I didn't really hit the ball all that well with them today. I hit the apex np's with s300, they were the longest of the group but I didn't really fancy them to much for some reason. I hit the 714 ap2 with s300, I liked these the best, they felt the best and I hit them almost as far as the apex, they were also the club I hit the best and most consistently today.

I also tried a tm tp/mb that I thought was a tp/cb at the time. I had grabbed it off the rack while the sales guy was off getting other clubs. I didn't notice until after that it was the mb. I thinned one with it though and the slot did help, it flew farther, higher and didn't sting as much as a normal thinned shot, so that was cool.

Overall I liked the ap2's the best, but it's hard to tell when your only hitting a half dozen shots or so with each one. Maybe it's because they had the same shafts as I use now so they felt more like what I'm used to now?

Ok, since you like the AP2s, try the i25s with the CFS shaft. ;)
[/quote]

In R or S??

I hit the AP1-155/160, ap2 160/165 and the apex 170/175 on good strikes. The ap2's had the highest flight too on a clean strike. I figured the ap1's would have or even the apex's. Ball speeds were around 95-105 will all of them depending on my swing.

Well I went over and played a couple rounds of sim golf tonight, I was the only one there besides Jay, the guy that works there. I struck the ball really well tonight, but I was leaving myself a lot of longer putts, and my putter was close but no cigar most of the night. I was getting into gimme par distance most times but didn't make many birdies, I left a lot of putts a foot short or wide. But I ended up with a first round of 72(0) and a second round of 73(+1). I played my first round alone and it was a little up and down throughout. The second round I played with Jay and it was a more steady round. Overall I played well and had fun :)

Also I put my cb's back in the bag tonight from 6-pw and played my Spaldings in 4 and 5 irons. The combo worked well together, maybe I don't need new clubs after all :D

I almost forgot to mention, I added this little gem to the collection yesterday. I rescued her out of a used bin at golf central for $40. I have been wanting a lob wedge for a while now and figured the extra zip from the old grooves wouldn't be a bad thing to have in a lob wedge. I used it last night and had a few balls actually back up on the green which I someone I don't see often. I think I'm gonna like her :)

Two stellar simulated rounds and a bargain bin find. I'd say you've had a couple good days Pigs. Any final thoughts on the iron decision, or are you still ruminating?

My home course opened yesterday. I paid my membership today and was able to squeeze in a round of 18 before my wife went to work. This was an unexpected treat on Easter. My children awoke at 5:45 so we were able to have the Easter egg hunt earlier. The course was empty when I arrived; which I found shocking because it was a reasonable temperature outside.

I began with a solid drive and 8 iron to 4 feet (I then pulled the birdie putt left . . . a theme on the day). Finished the front-side in +1 (8 pars and 1 bogey) after hitting 2 fairways (barely missed most) and 7 greens. The back-side was a little different story. Hit every fairway, but only 4 greens. I missed a 2 footer for par on 10, left an eagle putt 3 inches short on 11, and missed 3 and 4 foot birdie putts on 17 and 18. Posted a +6 coming home. I let a really good round slip away with some suspect putting. 34 putts total, but the number felt much higher. A satisfying and frustrating day, that left me with a massive blister on my right heel.

I'm really excited to put the Machine in the bag again (the putter's being shipped Monday) as I have no faith in what I'm currently carrying.

TY sir, It has been a pretty good weekend so far. How was the little peanuts easter?? Did the easter bunny find them??

I think I'm gonna just stick with my CB's for now, I know them at this point and what they do and don't do. I'm gonna keep my eyes open for a set of AP's for a good price though. I like the original ones the best I've decided, weather it be the 1's or 2's. Eventually ill come across a decently priced set and pick them up but I'm in no rush, the clubs I have work just fine for now. Heck, I was killing my irons last night for the most part, it was the putter that was just slightly off or those could have easily been to rounds in the 60's.

I like a plan of action. I think you are heading in the right direction. At some point we need to embrace what we have.

To that end . . . after my brief foray into the Macgregor VIP 'vintage' market I think I'm going to take a pass. My move into the players category will be with a short set of Wishon 575's. This is not a need, but a want. Totally satisfied with the clubs I'm carrying at the moment.

As for Easter, it was a splendid (but early) morning. Filled with chocolate and smiles : )

Plus 6 in mid season, much less the first time out, would have me struttin like the only rooster in a flock of 47 chickens. Great round P. D! :fan_1::fan_1:

I was happy to put myself in a position to 'go low', but disappointed that I couldn't capitalize.

I was able to successfully execute 3 out of the 4 flop shots I attempted (the failed attempt was sculled across the green) and this is a real accomplishment for me.

A real chance that I'll be able to take the Little Peanut to the course tomorrow for a 9 hole nature walk. He's looking forward to the opportunity.

My Simulated Handicap went down again a few points with last night's rounds, I'm now down to 4.4 :)

It only takes my last 5 rounds into account though. Over my last 10 rounds I'm only +34(if I did my math right lol) which puts me at an average of +3.4 over last ten rounds which included two +9's and a +10. I'm pretty happy with the overall improvements this winter and I'd have to say it's in large part to the wager and not being able to buy new clubs. I had to focus on other things instead :)

My daughter has been twice with me this year, she played her first full nine, and hit a few good shots. I try to take her later in the afternoon, so we can work on both of our games a little on the course. I finally started making some putts other than tap ins yesterday, so was able to shoot 88. Hitting a pull into the woods on 18 had me thinking I was going to probably not break 90, but I managed a gaudy double bogey 7 to finish at +18.

Bick,

Nothing like playing a round of golf with a child. Whether you shoot 67 or 107. There's so much to be shared.

I too enjoy it when I'm able to hold a round together and break a scoring barrier (100/90/80/70). I'm generally pretty happy if I post a score in the 80s or lower. It took me a great deal of time to break 90 and even longer to break 80. Perspective has taught me that they are all precious opportunities.

I normally am a shot or two either over or under 85. I'll shoot in the high 70's a few times a season, but also occasionally have rounds in the 90's when the wheels fall off. I don't worry about my score too much when she and I are playing, I want her to have fun and learn the game. I do seem to shoot better scores when I'm competing with someone though. Two months off has been tough on my swing so far no consistency.

Welcome back to the wonderful world of outside golf, Bick! :) That's a solid start to the season!

Hope you weren't involved in all that nasty weather that moved across the plains earlier this week. I saw plenty of severe storm and tornado warnings on my weather app. Still haven't cleared out potential worksites in Kentucky, Alabama, NC, and my old bosses city in Kansas. Darn thing was going ballistic so I had to silence the phone. :)

Well I fell victim to the urge again today, well, last night lol. I was on Kijiji and saw an add for a 910d2 with upgraded aldila stiff shaft for a good deal and I got the guy down to even less last night. I went and met the guy this morning and it turned out to be an aldila rip alpha70g x-stiff shaft and the head was more beat up then the pictures showed last night. But it was such a good deal that I got it anyways lol. I could probably sell the shaft and make my money back and just keep the head.

And yes I know, my other driver head hasn't even got here yet lol. I guess once a ho, always a ho :D

I'd send that head to Continental Golf for a refinish Pigs. There's a really nice 910 in their thread with a satin finish on the sole. Looks amazing.
