First time on the range with the new set. Much better compared to the VR forged pro combo. Misses are definitely less harsh. Probably getting a few yards extra per club but distance has never been an issue for me.

The good shots feel so much better and the ball flight is great. The PX 6.5 shafts (same as old set) are definitely the correct shaft for me.

Love these bad boys. Happy I made the switch.

(Can't seem to post photo. I'm trying to figure that out.)

Are we allowed to post about pricing?

I would love to let people know what my shop was charging because I discussed several shaft options with my shop before settling on the Modus 3. I'm sure I could lend so good info on the Nike upcharges if it's allowed.
How are you liking the Modus 120's? I'm thinking of converting to the V pros Modus 120 X coming from the MP 64's X100

I recently received my set of VPC's with Modus 120X shafts and put them through 2 rounds and a couple range sessions. I wanted to share my thoughts on these clubs and post my first review here on WRX! Please feel free to ask any questions.

I was playing a set of Ping I20's with CFS X flex shafts prior to these.

Look/Sound/Feel-These clubs are just so smooth. You definitely know when you miss one, but hitting one out of the middle Is just SMOOTH! Kudos to Nike for the acoustics of these clubs as well, just a soft "thud" with no click whatsoever. The look is my favorite part of these clubs. Out of every iron I looked at while searching, these were my favorite shape by far. Nice thin top lines, but you can tell there is a little help there as well.

Performance-I can't tell that there is any difference in distance between these and my I20's. This is probably partly due to the weather as it has been cold and windy so it has been a guessing game as far as distances are concerned. The best surprise about these is the turf interaction. It's been really soft out yet they seem to resist digging and cut through so smoothly. Ball flight is a nice mid-high but fairly flat. I have been extremely impressed with the Nippon shafts and the dispersion for this early in the year. I have struggled flighting them, but I am chalking that up to being rusty from the winter layoff.

Overall-So far I am extremely pleased with my first set of Nike clubs. I think they have a real winner on their hands. This iron just seems to do everything well!

Greatest shaft I've played to date. Smoother than PX and low launching. Like hitting a baseball bat right on the sweet spot.

I have project x 6.5s and they are amazing. Those modus seem quite intriguing but it would take a whole lot to knock the 6.5s out the bag.

So working on my vPC as I do with most of my irons(remove badge and paint fill to neutral) and made a few discoveries along with screwing up my 7 iron. Below are two photos that show an engraved M, anyone know what that means? Also, do not remove badge of cavity back irons, I will play the club but it does not look good. Any idea if this is a legal club?

Hi all,

Just ordered a set of Vapor Speeds yesterday, and I wanted to share with the community. Got the stock shaft (-1.0") with Tour Velvet grips rather than Tour Wrap. I wish I could hit the Pro Combos (or even pros) with upgraded shafts, but my game just isn't that consistent yet. I can dream though :). I'm seriously looking forward to getting the Speeds out on the course - my average carry was somewhere between 185-192 with the 7 iron, and I had a couple roll out to over 200 yds. That's a solid 10-20 yards longer than the RBladez i traded in. The feel is really what set them apart for me though - well struck shots feel solid and explode off the face. The club lets you know when you miss the sweet spot, but it doesn't punish you for it. If any other mid-handicappers are out there looking at a new set of game improvement irons, I recommend checking out the Speeds. Hopefully when everything is in, I'll post a WITB over in those forums. Happy (flag) hunting, folks!

Give us an update when you get them on the course. I am sure many will be interested if they are thinking between the Speeds and the VPC.

Will do. I'll probably get them to an indoor launch monitor for a practice session before getting to a course - it's currently 28 and snowing in the DC Metro Area. I'll keep everyone posted!

Just as a heads up, I did demo the VPC as well. The feel was unbelievable, but I couldn't get the distance to match the speeds. I believe I was carrying ~170 with the VPC vs the 185-192 for the Speeds. I don't think I was hitting the exact sweet spot on the VPC, as there was a little feedback in the club. Even with not hitting the sweet spot, though, the feel was just fantastic. I just personally hit the Speeds better - shot dispersion was within 5 yds of the center on every swing. The amazing part was that I was carrying the ball that far and it was landing soft.

That's really odd. If I remember correctly, Pure removed the badge on his Pro Combos and the cavity was clean. Although his did come from the oven, so not really apples to apples.

Pure,

I really like what you did to refinish the VPC 3-5 irons you were sent. How did you remove the "diamond plating" on the VPC irons to make them look like your MM Protos?

Actually on accident. The paint remover I use is super strong, it pretty much melted off that graphic leaving behind only the brushed aluminum insert. I kind of like that graphic, but I love the clean look that it has now.. I would be okay with or without it.

He did not remove the badge itself. If you look at the photos, you will see the outline of the badge still but not the graphics portion.

Gotcha, so the actual plate is some sort of metal that the paint stripper didn't mess with but the "diamond plate" thing is more of a sticker, for lack of a better term, that can be removed.

I've played a couple rounds with the Vapor Pro off the rack - Rick has a great swing - no way he missed three balls in a row with the 9 iron. THIS WAS PURELY PSYCHOLOGICAL.

No club in the world if going to grace you when you hit a 6 iron 4 inches fat like he did with that 114 shot.

Obviously these clubs are less forgiving but he had distance loss on 50% of his shots including the 9 iron?

Skeptical.

I can also tell you flat out that they're not nearly as hard to hit as that video intimates. I've hit both (6i, 7i) side-by-side five or six times when deciding which to go with and the Pro is less forgiving only on shots low on the face, with less distance on pure shots by only a couple yards. There was VERY little difference in forgiveness on high/toe/heel misses (I intentionally tried to hit these misses to gauge the difference). I certainly don't have nearly as good of a swing as Rick, but when you hit the ball way fat or on the equator no iron is going to be forgiving enough to even it out.

All that being said the VPC is undisputedly the more forgiving of the two but it's not a big difference. I traded the slight increase in forgiveness for the MUCH better feel (IMO) of the Pros...to me the VPC felt a little dead in the long RZN cavity irons. Even though it was, it didn't feel like the ball was popping off the face.

Man ... Rick struggled more than what I would have thought with these ...

They really aren't that hard to hit. I think he had a few beer between the VPC and the pros.

    • Titleist GT drivers - 2024 the Memorial Tournament
Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
