I was hoping to get a glimpse of the new G30 Low Spin version driver in Horschel's bag. I see 'Prototype' wedges, but not the LS driver.

Exactly. Asked Billy and he knows nothing about a low spin version.

Can i make a suggestion? I think it would be cool if these threads included some face pics of the irons/wedges. I would be interested in knowing how much wear a pros clubs have. I'm sure most look new but im sure there are some superstitious guys as well that dont like to change.

Funny when they reported his bag they said his 9* driver was lofted up to 10.5. Clearly its lofted lower by -.6* and is more like 8.4....

What? PING does a cool job on their website of telling you exactly what loft some of their pros are playing. They don't conceal the fact that their heads have more loft than what is actually stamped on the bottom of the head.

Billy's G30 driver is a 9 degree stamped head but its actual loft is 10.5 degrees. I know when he originally switched to the G30 he tinkered with the setting and believe he's used the small minus setting which is open ~1 degree and effectively changes the loft .6 degrees. I know you know the correlation between face angle and loft.

When you have a head like the G30, the loft is still the same (in this case 10.5 degrees) as its selected from a box in this Tour Department. PING's Tour/WRX Department has boxes with heads in them that are pre-measured for actual loft and selected when an order requesting a specific loft is placed. Changing the setting doesn't change the actual loft of that head just its effective loft at that specific setting.

So in Billy Horschel's case he has a 9 degree head at 10.5 degrees that I am guessing is playing right around 10 degrees (9.9) when he has it set a little open in the small minus setting.

The picture below is a tour fitting kit-- notice the shafts, the heads with varying weight in the toe and you cannot see the sharpie marks on the head stating their actual lofts. If you need a G30 head that's actually 10.5 degrees its going to be stamped 9 on the bottom. I think the lowest lofted 10.5 head that I've heard of was 11 degrees.

I'm not a Reid fan, but he's the only one that showed up for the ryder cup. He wore his heart on his sleeve, he had the European spirit on full display that wknd.
