srixon 745's WOW!!!!!!

Really hard to decide between the Z-545's and the Z-745 irons. At address they look pretty much the same and the Z545's defintiely do offer more forgiveness and distance. I suppose I should at least entertain the idea of a combo set, 4,5,6 in Z-545 and 7-PW in Z-745, but I am always hesitant to bend irons stronger or weaker because it can affect turf interaction in a negative way. Bending would be necessary to get the yardage gaps right with a combo set of the Srixon Z-irons.

Ahhh...woe is me..decisions, decisions...Will it be a full set of Z-545's or a combo set??? I'll have to sleep on it...

Tm, was it the set that went for $450?

Are you talking about the z 745's or 545's?

Bobcat, I was in the same boat. My head says 545's. My heart says 745's. What are you playing now?
Currently having pretty good success with the Cleveland 588 TT's in the bag which are kind of a "tweener" club and strong-lofted just like the Z-545's. Prior to those, I played Mizuno MP-32's and prior to that TourStage Z-101's. Loved both of those sets too!

I still consider myself a darned good ballstriker but because I am getting older, I had begun to lose some iron distance when playing a pure "player's iron set", with their traditional lofts. Really didn't see any loss of distance with the driver, fairways or hybrids however. Fortunately I got the distance back last year by choosing the strong-lofted Cleveland 588 TT's with Project-X 5.5 shafts. The Srixons just look so good to my eye, I can't resist them even though I probably should. That said, they still need to prove better than the 588 TT's on the course.

I am still pondering the Z-iron options, but starting to lean more towards just going with a full set of 545's rather than the 745's or a combo set. With either of the latter options I would probably want Srixon bend the 745's stronger because I feel pretty "dialed in" with a sronger lofted set now.

hey TM u can build you a combo set now lol question about the gap wedge hmm i usually dont like the set gap wedge but this one is different at 51* its perfect I have a set of tvd titleist i am playing but im only gonna game the 56 and 60 because the 745 gap is sweet and i can hit full shots and it also has the modus 120x in it. Dont worry buddy u wont have a problem unloading one of those sets when u figure out the one you are gonna game. I cant wait for golf season I think these 745 are gonna be great at my country club all bentgrass and soft fairways, enjoy my friend what shafts are in the 545 u bought on ebay

The shafts are S300. I wonder how much the 1* loft difference will make. To a scratch player maybe. Now I will be on the lookout for some recoils. It's funny how much I am looking forward to play these. I believe it is more because of playing a brand that people usually don't think about.

Any more details? What irons did you compare them to?
Adams cmb......Apex pro......Tileist ap2.......Titleist cb........ping s55.......Length similar on all of them....Biggest thing i noticed and maybe some of you can explain this. With everyone of these irons, my launch angle was 20 -24. Every shot i hit with the 745's, was between 27 and 29. My swing felt good and it seemed as though i was swinging the same at all. All had s300's except the pings. I was hitting 7 irons.
We all know feel is subjective to the user but purely from a materials stand point all those irons you listed off are cast molded or have some sort of vibration dampening insert vs. Srixon who use a 6X's forging process. I have a hard time believing the 745 is the worst feeling out of that bunch.
I said, for me, the worse of the five.......I then said, i did not like the feel.....I never said they felt worse than all the others, although i was not impressed with the way they felt. There is more to how an iron feels than what kind of forging is used....Could be a lot of things such as how they fit the players setup and swing....Some are flatter....some are more upright etc. I'm not sure the sole grind on these is conducive to hitting off mats. I want to like them, i just did not.
I agree with wob. The feel is "meh". Not bad but avg for a forging.

These things are popping up all over the place cheap.....A set on there now for 585.00.......A lot of people bought these based on looks....We could be seeing a lot more for sale.

I agree with wob on shouldnt buy off looks, but these things flat out perform mine paired with nippon modus 120x are a perfect combo. The best part of them i like the best is the turf interaction perfect in ALL conditions. But i demoed them for a while before i purchased an they were so-so with the x100. They feel a lot softer than my ap2, more forgiving, better sole grind, and look perfect at address with little offset.

I actually think the forging is not that "soft" either. I think the buttery soft forging that people describe for irons is often a combination of feel AND sound. I tried a bunch of different clubs in my search and these were definitely not the softest.

That being said, feedback was one of the key factors for me -- and these irons certainly let you know you hit them off center but don't over penalize in terms of final outcome.

As fujiman mentioned, I also think the shaft makes a big difference in feel -- for any club, not just these.
Right on buddy, i will agree these were not the softest irons i hit either on my search but were a lot softer than my ap2. A lot of the mizuno just in terms of forging were softer, i just got perfect numbers with 745 and the custom grind is what solidified my decision just so easy to hit. Everyone has different opinions i just will say srixon has made a damn good set of irons with a lot of r&d research andtechnical genius. Believe me ive been a titleist fanboy for a long time and now these 745 are planted in my bag for a reason and im not one to jump on the bandwagon i play stuff that betters my game

I will tell you the difference between the 745's and about 10 other sets I have in about 3 days. Although I did buy these because of the looks, I have also researched all the reviews on the Internet these past few days. I don't think the feel is the main selling feature that is being promoted. In fact, after reading 100's of reviews, I can't really tell you what is the main selling feature other than looks. This is strange because usually you can say a certain iron excels in two areas. Ex: Miura. We all know the feel great, look great, but average in the terms of forgiveness. I believe what I am reading is these irons are just solid in all areas. Top this off with the looks and that dang Fujiman, I was sold.

Besides, all of us that are reading this on GolfWRX will be swinging a different set sooner than later. I just admit it. Embrace your inner ho and you will realize quilt was clouding your experience. GO HO!

Sorry TM i just give everyone my true honest opinion, you go hit those and i will bet you are gonna like them over at least 9 outta the 10 sets you have, but no joke these irons perform and are absolutely solid!!!!!! and they are pretty easy on the eyes lol

Lol.. This is why I love this site over others. There is no annual cup that companies sponsor for members and those members never say one bad word about their equipment. We get true reviews. Some love, some hate, but we all are passionate and honest.
