Nike Engage Wedges

The Engage wedges look totally sweet, can't wait to get mine!

How does the shape of these at address compare to the VR X3X? IMO the X3X are the best looking wedges I've ever seen at address. I haven't hit them tho as they don't make a 54* (I guess I could've bent a 52 but whatever)

From these pics it looks like a taller more bulbous face on these

So I've read this entire post, and most things on the engage I can find (which isn't a lot). I'm sure it's been covered generally, but I was wondering what you guys would think in terms of my specific club set up. Right now I've got a 44 pw so I need a 50 square for sure, and I was thinking a 54 and a 58 also. My wedge game is pretty basic, and not particularly great. Mainly bump and runs but I'd like to start getting a little more height. My question is whether I should go 54 square and 58 toe sweep, or toe sweeps for both of them. Right now I've got a 50, 56, 60 and I use that 56 pretty much exclusively 100 yards in unless I am forced to try the 60. Thanks for any advice any of you have.

I love the more rounded look of the engage. Still not sure when these will be available retail but I cannot wait to pick one up

Hard to answer without a little more info. What's your 56* setup with respect to bounce? Do you use it for bunkers too? Or mostly just full shots?

I have always been a 54*/60* guy myself, but use the 54* for full shots and bunker shots mostly, so I went with the toe sweep. The 60* is my specialty wedge... I rarely use it for full out shots of more than an 80% effort, so I went dual sole on that one. I am a sweeper though, so low bounce that I can open the face on is very appealing to me.

Right now i've got the s-yard bold wedges. Not sure on the bounce, as they don't offer any options other than their stock. Im like you, I use my sixty rarely, and never as a full swing. I use my 56 for everything else, including sand. On full swings with wedges ill take a little divot, but inside of 50 yards or so I would definitely be more on the sweeper side. My only reasoning for switching from 60 to a 58 was if I only got toe sweep 58, I could still use it out of the bunker. How does the toe sweep play when you square it up around the green? If it still performs well in that regard, as well as when you lay it open, I think i may be leaning towards the 50 square, 56, 60 toe sweep. I was just worried since I play most of my 56 shots square... And thank you for your help!

You're welcome, ADO66. While I haven't played the new Engage TS yet (crappy weather today), I have the Toe Sweep in a few lofts of last year's model. No issue at all for me playing them squared up. I honestly had more trouble with the TS when I laid them way open, even with the heel relief.

Swoosh, unfortunately crappy weather didn't let me get out today to test them as I had hoped. I can only attest to last years Toe Sweeps. For me, they worked well for everything but shots where I tried to lay the face really open (especially tighter lies). Bunker shots and shots from thicker rough were a dream though...

The Engage TS seems to be a smoother transition on the grind. I probably won't get a chance to hit them until Sunday.

Shipped directly from Nike a few days earlier than the big posted date on the box sticker of 5/22. I ordered through Fairway Golf is all.

Will do. They're going to get the full treatment Sunday morning on my next round. So far I have had a chance to do nothing but chipping and pitching in the backyard, between raindrops. The 60* DS is very versatile, I like it the most so far, but the 54* TS will get a better chance to shine Sunday out of bunkers and high rough.

Solid day for sure. The only difficulty was on full shots with the 54* TS and 60* DS. Conditions were wet and soggy and hit one or two weird shots with each. Bunker shots with the 54* TS were a breeze, had a couple in 27 holes today. Flops and pitches, especially from thick lies with the 54* and 60* were both great. Plugged one on the first hole greenside (shortside) and the 54* performed well, got it to 10 feet. I have Modus 125 wedge shafts that just arrived Saturday that I will be putting in all 3 wedges... should help me with the full shots I expect. All in all, a great first round in not so ideal conditions.

$135 for the set of 3 all in. Admittedly I didn't price shop, more of an impulse buy because I love the regular 125s in my irons.
