Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

I walked all 36 holes at White Hawk today. I was the first one out and was on the course with the maintenance crew. That's definitely what I prefer, though by playing at a really quick solo pace I was ahead of the guy who removed the dew from the greens for the first nine holes. I hadn't been to White Hawk in about three years and forgot how long it plays. Grey Hawk to Black Hawk was playing the full 7,024 yards while Red Hawk to Silver Hawk was playing about 200 yards less than the 7,265 that's listed on the card because of a lot of ground under repair on Silver. Three of the four courses (Grey, Red, and Black) were all in really good shape, while Silver was in the midst of being worked on. Most of the bunkers weren't playable on Silver and some tee boxes were being touched up. I'll definitely head back this season since I was really impressed with Grey and Black. 75 for round one and 74 for round two.

This is by far the fastest I've gotten to 30 rounds in a season. Hopefully I can keep this pace up, though I'm running out of Jewish holidays to play golf during. I still have Shavout on May 31st and June 1st though, so that should be good for four more rounds.

Dang...I'm converting to Judaism if it means 30 rounds of golf.

Played Hilldale Sunday in what turned out to be great weather. The NW 'burbs got soaked late Saturday night, so everything plugged and the fairways and rough were drenched. That said, the place was nearly empty, I guess maybe Easter played a part. Pace of play was obviously outstanding, No one in front of us and no one behind that we saw. Greens were in great shape and rolled nicely. A little rough around the edges as far as bunkers/dandelions go, but we had a great time out there and will be back for sure.

Looks like our first tee times are at 4:54 to 6. If we are in the same one, good luck to ya! lol

Hey zer0 which day is your league on? I just moved to the area and joined up for the Wednesday night golf league.

Nice, I'm also in the Wed night league! But, they have two leagues on Wed night so not sure if we are in the same one.

The key is to play two rounds instead of just one. Get the first time (it's usually cheaper than others for whatever reason), grab a bite in between, then pick up a second round somewhere relatively nearby. I'd imagine doig that in carts would get expensive but walking shaves plenty of money off. Courses get crowded in Jewish areas during holiday season, but Northwest Indiana and Southern Wisconsin are usually wide open.

That's awesome. I've got 24 rounds so far this year, with 14 being on two-a-day's, but all but 5 have been in warmer climates. You must be an incredibly early riser to be the first one out on on a suburban course.

I still have a used charcoal ClicGear 8.0 (w/ wheel covers) available for $125 if anyone is interested. The original buyer disappeared. PM me, and I can hopefully get it to you this weekend.

Are you on the classic or East 9 tomorrow? I'm teeing off at 4:54 on the Classic.

Best of luck to you as well, good luck trying to topple me and my partner's stranglehold on 8th place every year.

I just need to be out the door by 5:45 in the morning. I'll take the early wake up over dealing with long rounds, though at this time of year a bunch of courses don't even open until 8:00. The patronage employees need their rest, after all. Departure gets much earlier when tee times are before 6:30 in the summer.

Got assigned 5:03 on east, going through some swing changes so I'm sure I will be ok or really bad haha. Name is David D. If you look on the tee sheet.

I'm on the Classic so we are in different leagues. name is Mike O. Sure I'll see you around the practice green and clubhouse. Although if the weather drops like its supposed to the rest of the day I'll probably bail.

When the handicap sheets come out you will see. This was on the east 9 at sportsmans, we play the classic front 9 next Wednesday, it could possibly be even higher.

lol let your partner know that they update the handicaps all year based on the rounds you play in the league so he's gonna have to keep shooting those 86's if he wants to keep getting 50 strokes per side.

Anyone see golfweek's new best you can play by state lists? Mt Prospect Golf Club cracked the list for IL this year. I know they did some work on the course recently but I've never heard much fanfare about it, and have never played. Anyone have any insight?

Also, pretttttttty excited to check out the new Oak Meadows course later this summer.

Yeah, a number of us have played it since the redo. Search the thread for comments.

In a nutshell it seems to be a love/hate thing. Funny, that seems to be the case for a lot of courses in the area. I think most agree that the changes are big improvements, but there is some debate on the greens. Several folks think the undulating greens are too punishing for the average player who frequents the course.

I thought the greens were fine.

I'll be walking at Glenview Park tomorrow morning. It's going to be a chilly day with wind coming off the lake. I'm probably going to try Harborside on Sunday for the first time this season, provided that it's not cart path only.

Worst greenshapes ever. Only the 6th green is fair. Overcompensating for the lack of length. It is in good condition though. Just waiting for all those elephant remains to seep through the top of the greens.

Prairie Landing yesterday. Course was in surprisingly good condition with greens rolling nicely. After the fiasco in Mexico, didn't have high expectations but in the end was quite happy to walk away with 73. Missed a 1 footer (yes, no gimmes since it was a tournament) , which would have given me my first even par round in quite some time.
