Ping i-e Irons?

Nessism

Recommended Posts

Just hit them with CFS stiff shaft. My thoughts...dispersion was the highlight. Ball after ball seemed to land in the same general 150 range. Ballflight was very close to my i25's...maybe a tad lower. Nice PING "thunk" when hit well...not forged but not clicky. I don't know if they are longer heel to toe. I almost looked like the topline tapered down toward hosel. They look less beefy than i25. I am going to get a set.

The pics above make it look a lot different then I25 to me. Rounder toe and different finish and maybe a little thinner everywhere which is all good for me

They do it on all the demo heads. Makes it easier to see it in the cart.

My first 10 balls felt like crap. I don't know what it was. After that...felt incredible. Forgiveness is top notch. Denvergolf is much better player than me. I'm not good enough to judge workability. I just try to hit them straight. Much more forgiving than S55 that I played for a couple of months.

The exact same thing. But it was first five swings for me. Then I started to hit them better.

I was able to hit the 7 iron with the modus3 tour 105 side by side with my S55 with KBS tour V on a game changer launch monitor. i-e ball flight was definitely higher and I was hitting 8 yards longer. Side by side comparison with the I25 it is thinner all the way around love the rounder toe. Not as clean looking as the S55 right in the middle between the I25 and the S55. So far I like it.

Also just hit the iE1 7 iron CFS stiff in store on their GC2. Blue dot vs. The green I'm usually fit for.

Compared it to my i5 7 iron. Thinner sole/grind than i20/i25 for sure. Much thinner than i5 sole. They thinned out the topline and seemed to reduce the offset quite a bit from the last i series. Cavity looks really good in person - modern, subtle.

Felt good, solid, pretty soft sound. No high pitched click or anything while hitting. Even on toe-ish strikes. Distance, spin, height, everything exactly the same as my i5 7 iron.

Took a couple pics, will upload when I get home but they're not the greatest sorry. I was very rushed as I had to leave. Any questions, let me know.

Are they good enough to replace the I5's? I've had my I5's since 2006 and was considering these as their replacement.

That's the million dollar question and I've been thinking the same thing as you.

Right now it's very close. I'd need a bit more time with them, preferably off grass and in green dot.

I'd say 60/40 in the yes favor. I can definitely tell they're not quite as forgiving or as easy to launch as my current sticks. But I think once you get used to them, they'd be OK in terms of confidence.

They really slimmed them up though. Getting closer and closer to the s series look! Which many will love (I don't mind a bit more chunk to my irons haha).

Was this in reference to my ferrule question?[/quote]sorry...not bigger than i5 in any way. There is no ferrule as its a demo club I put a px in, and took out to the course.

I'm glad my observations are being replicated by others. I was really impressed overall. Thanks for the comparrisons and pics, as I didn't bring my phone in to the shop. I thought they looked like a little thinner and smaller overall than previous models.
