These irons are now impressing me compared to my initial demos.

Hit the iE1 7 iron with PX 6.0 today (they only had the CFS distance and some graphite options I wasn't interested in) and I brought in my own i5 7 iron to compare.

The iE1s were very muted, even compared to the i5s (which aren't loud by any means). I compared flush shots to flush shots, and the monitor results had the iE1s 6-9 yards up in carry distance. Very impressive, but not sure if the PX shaft suits me well as I never really liked it during other iron demos in the past.

Maybe it's just the one degree stronger loft that's giving me a bit of distance, but these irons are a big step up from the i20s and i25s, even if solely considering the feel difference. They were very easy to hit and gave me some very straight shots that drew towards the target line.

It's going to be tough to not put in an order. Only problem is the $1300 CAD price tag for 8 irons. Even if I only go 4 or 5-PW, it's still a big chunk of change.

i hit the 7 iron today with both the DG300 and KBS tour, i picked up 10 yds with the DG and almost 13 more with the KBS tour based on the carry on the Launch monitor. Now, i cant wait to hit the MP-25 to compare. They also felt unbelievably soft and to me look smaller than i25 but bigger than S55. A great club, wouldnt hesitate to put them in the bag. i also realize that they should go further based on the jacked up lofts.

Please let us know how they compare. These are the two iron sets I'm looking at also.

Just ordered an iE1 3 iron to go with my s55 set. Really excited to put a 3 iron back in my bag. 7 iron looks great and feels great, just not gonna give up the smaller, sleeker s55's. I'll take the extra forgiveness in the 3 iron though.

3 iron ordered July 31, 3 iron delivered today, August 6. Can't wait to get out and get this thing on the range or the course, it looks soooooo clean. Hoping everybody's orders start rolling in soon!

For anyone that's been on a launch monitor w the modus 105, how high is the trajectory? Ping lists it as high, is it really that much higher than kbs tour or cfs?
So I got on a launch monitor at Golfsmith to demo the ie1 with a few different shaft options and I was really surprised how the averages between the three different shafts were almost identical considering the supposed difference in shafts (I would ideally like to test on a Trackman). Maybe someone has an explanation but my average numbers were as follows:

Clubhead speed: 85
Ball speed: 124
Launch Angle: 20

Wow this thread is killing me. I had my rep from Edwin Watts call Ping on the status of my order. My god, pushed back to Aug 25th now. Who would have known the PX 6.0 shafts would be a problem. I am now hoping I get them before Sept.

Picked up my new clubs and played 9 holes. Man it was a huricain blowing and raining. But I still hit well ish.

On the range last night and I was all giddy.

When I picked up the irons the pro told me that thesecare the first clubs that ping have made that arecdesigned to be re finished. Basically in a few years time you can send them back and they will grind them and buff them and they will look as new.

I change too much to list it. Working on that...

To be honest not a ton. A flush shot with all of them felt good and pure. Maybe subtle differences from one to the next. Also was hitting off a mat which I hate (feel you really can't get a good sense for an iron off of a mat). I think I prefer a slightly heavier shaft than the Modus 105. I have been a DG player for a while but think I might have liked the slightly lighter weight of the PX and the feel of how it loads. But I might be splitting hairs and it might just be in my head.

Mats disguise a number of things. I appreciate the feedback though, depending on the day of the week I've preferred dg>px and vice versa. Unequivocally fickle.

They do. Mats are the worst. Just curious, in your mind what do you find the differences between DG and PX to be (feel, flight, spin, etc)?

Got mine on Thursday. Modus 105 shafts. I previously owned the i20 and i25's (both with CFCs) and currently play mizuno 850 forged with Matrix Ozik Program 130 shafts. I really like the Mizunos but I believe the Pings are going to kick them out of the bag.

I played a few holes and had two lengthy practice sessions to compare. At first, I thought the Pings were a full club shorter but the range was playing into the wind and I just needed to adjust the ball position as the Pings are noticeably higher flight. I took them on the course and hit 3 balls each from various areas (into the wind, down wind, x-wind, etc.) and the distance difference between the 850's and Pings is negligible. The 850's were a club longer than the i25's so the new Pings have closed that gap. Forgiveness was slightly better than the 850's but that will be determined more once I get a few rounds in with them.

I've never put into play px, so limited experience with how they play on a variety of courses. I don't find the px to feel boardy as most claim they do. I think the boardy feel comes from playing too stiff of a flex like 6.0 and up. I actually like the feel of px 6.0 and 5.5.

Dg vs px

I like em both, dg have a very familiar feel with balanced height and spin. Px have a crisper/deeper feel with slightly higher launch and nearly the same amount of spin. Both feel balanced in their weight and load characteristics IMO.

I haven't gamed dg since last year, and play modus now. If I were to buy a set of ie1 I would probably start my fitting/testing with px 5.5. I tested the ansers for a while and I had the best numbers with the 5.5.

I've been quite the skeptic of these irons, but they keep getting positive feedback. I'm slightly intrigued.

Feel was very similar on well struck shots. Mis-hits were a little more harsh feeling with the Mizunos.

I haven't played pings in years and currently play forged irons. I must say when you hit these Pings well they feel almost if not as soft as my current forged irons. I was impressed by them. You can also work the ball a bit with them which is nice but they were very straight and very forgiving (which is the main reason why I am considering a switch to get a more forgiving, straighter ball fight without an ugly clubhead). These might fit the bill. The other option I am considering is the Callaway Apex irons (which is a shocker for me because I generally have hated Callaway products over the last decade plus. Probably leaning ping right now but haven't had a chance to test side by side outdoors (only side by side indoors).

How do you like your Modus? And have you also played KBS Tour and C-taper and what are your thoughts on those comparatively.

One of the other things I am really struggling with is the jacked up lofts of all these new iron sets. I currently play a 48 PW and 54-58 wedges. With all these new PW's 45 not sure how to set up a new bag. Its almost like a 4 iron is the new 3 iron and you drop a 3 iron and play a gap as well. I have always played Driver-3w-hybrid, 3-PW, 54-58.

I had KBS Tour in a set of AP2's and occasionally practice with an XTD 6 iron that has a c-taper. C-taper is the lowest launching by far and I don't really like how it feels. Ball flight on KBS and Modus are similar but the Modus is much smoother feeling.

I like the Modus 125's, but I find myself tinkering more with shafts than I do with club heads. Some have compared the modus 125 to be the best of both worlds, a dynamic duo of the benefits of both kbs and dg if you will. I played kbs for 18 months, ball flight was a bit high in the scoring irons, but not too bad. The C-taper's felt like too much shaft for me, I would need a R+. I really like the C-taper light though, nice high penetrating ball flight with the dispersion that c taper are known for. I could game the CTL with no problem, I could probably game nearly any shaft out there in the appropriate flex and weight profile.

For the "time" being I am satisfied with the 125's, they're consistent, nice flight and feel, and perform like dg with a slightly softer feel. Only shaft that could potentially replace them would be the fuji MCI (gym has my elbows sore) or AMT (if they live up to the hype). I personally believe the 125's could and would give any DGTI player on tour a run for their money, but Nippon just doesn't have the exposure and credibility that True Temper has on tour "at the moment".

I've played 2 full rounds with mine. My club championship started today and I was hesitant to put them in play with only 1 practice round. I threw caution to the wind and did it anyway. Sitting in 5th 4 shots out after a stupid triple on 17. For reference I have been playing s55s with Tour Vs stiff soft stepped which are now on the BSTs. The Nippons feel more active and a touch less crisp as compared to the Tour Vs. My first round yesterday I knew I would love them. More forgiving for sure and very muted feeling. The Nippons help me hit it very high. The stiff 105s feel soft to flex when I go after it but they hang in there so well. No big hooks or fades at all. Just a nice straight ball with a slight draw or fade. After a few holes I knew I could really trust them and I came home and put the s55s on the BST. Our greens were running at 11 today and I tried to stay under the hole if at all possible. Hit a 9 iron into a 152 yard par 3. The s55s would put me 5-6 paces below that pin on a well struck shot. The i's were 5-6 paces behind the pin all with a good bit higher trajectory. Same situation on 2 more par 3s that played 183 and 185. Hit 6 iron 7-8 paces behind both where the s55s would be right at pin high. These were moon ball shots for me as well and I am loving it. For those worrying about trajectory with the Nippons, you can knock them down too but they are definitely on the high side of anything I have ever hit.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
