Well I finally made my obligatory PING-freak order as well. Went with the Z-Z65 shaft again. I have no expectations that they will be better than any of the other similar PING irons I have played. The PING virus made me do it.
Lol!

If you take any belief from Maltby's mpf numbers then your expectations may be right..

i3 blade = 546 mpf
i10 = 560
Anser = 563 (note '13 anser is lower than '11 model)
i-e = 566
Eye2 = 724

my old ISI are supposeldy 805 mpf - i'm not so sure about that number being accurate, but the only current Ping iron with higher mpf than that is the new Gmax.

I'm not knocking the i-e in any way, they are a nice looking and feeling iron. MPF in itself isn't the only indicator of iron performance by an means, but I do wonder how much of these 'wow' statements are based on marketing and the belief that new must be better ?

Now do I put the ISI or the Eye2+ back in my bag ?

HAHAHA me too dude. Did three fittings -- two indoors and one on grass. All came DGS 300 (which is what I had in i5s). Now I wait for UPS like an addict -- hitting F5 on the tracking page every half hour waiting for this: 08/26/2015 9:00 Departure Scan
Sweet! I hope you enjoy them! I had Project X 6.0 in my Ansers. I'm glad I didn't try to order them with those shafts after reading about all of these guys waiting for theirs. I ordered them Monday with Z-Z65 shafts and they shipped today.

UPS website just updated : 08/27/2015 6:44 Out for Delivery

now it's on. Looking for tee times...

Just got back from trying out the MP25 and Ping i irons, and although I really wanted to like the MP25 (and at address I did), I'm afraid the Ping i blew the MP25's out of the water. I tried just about every combination of shafts that were in my Pros' Mizuno Demo Cart, and no combo I put into the MP25's came anywhere near to matching the ballflight, and consistency of the Ping i/Pro Modus 105 combination. And as for feel. the Pings are every bit as soft feeling as it's Mizuno bretheren, so all this talk of forged v cast is nonsense. In fact, the Ping 7 iron Demo/ Pro Modus 105 was consistently hitting 5-6 yards further, with better and more consistent ball flight than the MP25 6 iron, with even the best shaft combo that I could find!!

Thumbs up to Ping, as I would think I could get even better numbers if I had the lie angles and swing weights adjusted a touch. The Ping/Pro Modus Combo is very good indeed.

Oh please don't let my purely anecdotal account influence you too much. Maybe the Pro Modus 105 is just a good shaft for me personally, and the Mizunos' probably have the edge in overall looks and bag appeal, but for me personally, when the Ping/Pro Modus 7 iron is carrying 175-180 in the air, high straight and consistent, and the MP25 6 iron is carrying around the 170 mark with all the different shafts in the fitting cart, I'm sorry but the Pings were a clear winner by a country mile. But as I said, it doesn't make the MP25's a bad club, just not so good for me I'm afraid. If Mizuno would have offered the Pro Modus 105s', who knows, the contest could have been closer. But results between all of us can vary greatly of course. I just wanted to express my own anecdotal 2 cents you understand?

I wouldn't have thought so to be honest. The MP25 are pretty much a direct replacement for the MP54, which puts them slap bang in the same playing category as the Ping i's I would have thought.

ez forged are a more permieter weighted design with a pocket cavity with offset. MP25 seems more akin to the S55 to me.

I hit the S55's and hit them pretty well actually, far better than the MP25's. So I personally, would have put the S55's closer to the MP15, not the 25's. Guess we can agree to disagree though?

certainly. probably picking nits anyway. Im just looking at both the ping i and the ez forged along with the ap1 so the comparison was already in my mind.

I went to Southwest Golf Ranch this time. I know the fitter there and he has done some clubs up for me before. It was more convenient for my schedule to go there this time. I was playing hardstep s300, which are at 6.1 fcm. The PX will play at 6.6. I was swing a 6.0 comfortably during the fitting, and used some information I found from Howard Jones on PX to arrive at my 6.5 reasoning.

Howard Jones post from a few years back:
The most common mistake when choosing PX is going TO strong. A PX 5.5 might sound like a "weak" shaft, but its not. Also pay attention to weight of the shaft. Compatible flex is lighter in a PX shaft, and lighter always means more harsh feel of flex, so dont go to strong when PX is wanted. A way to adjust for weight and feel of flex is soft stepping. PX drops by 4 cpm when soft stepped 1x, so if the weight of 6.5 is good, but flex of 6.0 is better for you, go 6.5 SS1. That will give you the weight of the shaft you want, and a flex that says 6.1. Feel will improve vs 6.0 because of shaft weight

I hit the pw and 5 iron today vs my s55's at our range (grass). they were my friends and he plays them looong (1.75 over) and red dot, px6.0, so not what I'm used to. I have two sets and I'm .5 over and yellow with both and have cfs x's and px6.5's. but the results were still pretty great. hitting them side by side. I was choking up to my length the best I could. what I really liked was the turf interaction. our range is pretty awesome but the turf is a bit sandy and softer than the course. even bad swings and fatty's were solid. very impressed. they were flying about 10 yards further for both clubs. not looking for more and wonder if it will cause a gap on the low side of the bag.
