Wow. Rose and Stenson both feeling the pressure on those chips!

If only Kuch could have two putted for birdie on that last hole...

The combination of lack of top-tier players and a visually uninteresting golf course (on TV at least) are really dragging this down. Couple that with the announcers dumbing down the commentary for a wider, less golf-knowledgable audience and I am fearful that this could be the last time golf is in the Olympics.

They should switch the format to match play. The Olympics is all about immediate stakes and a four day stroke-play tournament is just too much of a slow burn.

Yep, last time . . . until Tokyo. Oh boy.

We get it, you're all in on the Olympics. I think most of us want it to work, but you're dreaming if you think this is as good as it could be. I've watched all four days, and today is the first that has any real energy.

You don't get it, I've never supported golf in the Olympics. And whether "all in" or not, not silly enough to think Tokyo (which is guaranteed to happen) won't happen.

What do you think that Hideki withdraw from Olympic tournament?

And what do you think Hideki thinks?

; )

Ya, posts on a golf website are a real resume-builder. :cheesy:

Listen, I don't really think it's not going to make it to Tokyo but it's certainly not a guarantee. Frankly the process is probably too far along for them to simply pull it at this point, but it's not like they're building a course specifically for the purpose. The real concern would be beyond that, though hopefully with Japan's enthusiasm for the game (and lack of "concerns" expressed by guys foregoing Rio) will help to build momentum.

The announcers are so bad. They keep going on about how powerful and what a big hitter Stenson is. Driving me crazy. He's not that long! They even called him Henson once or twice. Lol

What are you even talking about? Stenson s one of the longer players on tour. Dude never hits driver and sell competes with the best in the world

Also, given the choice between the Deere and the Olympics, my TV will be on the Olympics. Hoping for a great battle between Rose and Stenson and a bronze from one of the Americans.

I will be watching the Deere instead of this ridiculous farce.

Great - there's a thread you can post in. Enjoy the tournament.

Probably feeling a little bit lonely over there.

I'm still waiting for you to share your theory on why the Americans aren't playing well...

You little stalker you!! Still feeling bitter about what I said about what you did to Kemau.

Still I don't mind it was only a theory and I'm quite happy to be shot down.

The theory was just about them being out of their comfort zone away from everything that the PGA Tour provides. Did their performance over the first two days demonstrate that; perhaps. They probably would have missed the cut if there had been one, but a lack of a cut has allowed them to acclimatise and play their way in, especially Kuchar who looked to be in with a shout up until a moment ago.

I said in my initial post that I would love to see a two-course combo of LACC and Riv. However the indications are that they would put a bunch of money into revamping Griffith Park.

It's hard to say who is going to win 2024. LA and Paris are obviously the best choices from a safety and infrastructure point of view, but Rome and Budapest are more likely to capitulate to the IOC.

Do you really think that Paris is a best choice from a safety stand point with what has happened there recently. The European Championships (football) were difficult enough for them but an Olympics would probably be a logistical nightmare.

As soon as I feel that golf is truly an olympic sport some caddie, gets an uppity attitude with the spectators to remind us golf has etiquette and fans are often secondary. Makes you wonder how practically every sport allows cheering during play, well maybe tennis but even thats changing. If a 5'1" gymnast can flip and twirl on a 4 inch piece of wood while there's music, cheering, and teammates yelling out her name, it makes you wonder how Put your phones away, stop taking pictures looks to the non-golf fan. I haven't heard a camera from a phone shutter in ages. I'm not saying it should be a free for all but how.riduculous does it look that you're outside, birds are chirping away and you can't take a picture with your phone?
