Does anyone know which shoes rose is wearing? Checked the adidas site but couldnt find them.

 

Probably custom one offs from adidas. The uniforms are not so great. I thought the best dressed golfers were from France. But they were sponsored by Lacoste.

pretty good and deserving top 2, 3 and 10 given who showed up to play. Rose and Stenson could well have been the top two if the field were exactly the same as it'd been for the PGA or the Open.

Agreed, today was exciting despite the drawbacks but the first three days were just ho-hum. Imagine how great it could have been with a stronger field and a more visually interesting course.

I think LA is in the running for 2024. riveria would be a great choice

I said in my initial post that I would love to see a two-course combo of LACC and Riv. However the indications are that they would put a bunch of money into revamping Griffith Park.

 

It's hard to say who is going to win 2024. LA and Paris are obviously the best choices from a safety and infrastructure point of view, but Rome and Budapest are more likely to capitulate to the IOC.

 

Do you really think that Paris is a best choice from a safety stand point with what has happened there recently. The European Championships (football) were difficult enough for them but an Olympics would probably be a logistical nightmare.

 

Fair enough, but because they face such significant domestic threats I think the safety apparatus in France is probably much better developed to handle a huge international event than Budapest or Rome. Obviously from that standpoint LA would be best because not only would the LAPD and FBI be more than equipped, but there is not really a significant existing threat.

 

And I love Budapest, genuinely one of my favorite cities in the world, but from an infrastructure standpoint it would be a logistical nightmare. The main airport doesn't even have jetbridges. However, as we know, the IOC has...varied...considerations when determining a host city.

 

I thought I've read in a few places that their experience with Brazil (and Sochi to a lesser extent) has made the IOC a bit gun shy about awarding games to places that need significant infrastructure work which would suggest that Paris or LA would be most likely candidates for 2024. Add in the fact that NBC (which accounts for 20-25% of the IOC's revenue) would like a US based games asap, and I'd probably put a dollar or two on LA getting it...

The announcers are so bad. They keep going on about how powerful and what a big hitter Stenson is. Driving me crazy. He's not that long! They even called him Henson once or twice. Lol

 

 

What are you even talking about? Stenson s one of the longer players on tour. Dude never hits driver and sell competes with the best in the world

What are you talking about? Henrik pounds his three wood but he's not great with the driver. This announcer was going on like he was the second coming of John Daly. He was even going on about Henrik length when he had just been out driven by Justin Rose. My point was not a criticism of Henrik but of the announcer. On 15 Henrik clearly hit it fat and the announcers had no idea why he was so short of the green. Terrible.

You would hope so, but these problems go back even to Athens and before. Real Sports from July did a great job covering why it really could go either way, but none of the 2024 countries face quite the same corruption issues as Brazil or Russia, plus countries are becoming more wary of big spends on the Olympics, so we can hope they're smart about picking somewhere that has most of that infrastructure in place.

I'm not going to defend Johnny Miller (Terry Gannon is fine), but you clearly don't follow golf very closely.
