Ok, he dominates our interest. (as opposed to dominating the Tour, as he once did)...BTW, the kid in the green looks like he saw something that made him want to barf.

[/quote]Well not just here at GOLWRX but the golfing public. According to Golf digest more people watched to see if Tiger could win the Wyndham than to see if Jordan Spieth could win the British.

According to The Internet Movie Database Fast & Furious 6 grossed about 4 times the amount at box offices that Gangs of New York did.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Time zone is an issue here.

More surprised by more than Saturday of US Open.

Just about to post that as we were discussing it in the "Tiger PGA status" thread. Let that one sink in. More people watched to see if Tiger could win something called the Wyndham Championship played in Greensboro, NC than people were watching to see if Spieth could keep his calendar year Grand Slam going at the Old Course, or watched to see Spieth and Day battle in the PGA.

Golf fans and WRXers may not need Tiger and may even wish he'd stop getting so much attention, but the PGA and these tournament sponsors certainly need him.

Would you really consider most of the lauded "casual fan" the "golfing public?" I wouldn't. Most wouldn't be able to tell a driver from a 9 wood or how many strokes is par on a Par 5. But eyes they are nonetheless.

There is no doubt that the money machine is better with him in the mix, but to say that the Tour "needs" him is a bit hyperbolic, imo. Title sponsors? yeah probably.

And that proves that FF6 was way more popular, which is the theme of this little sub-thread. Nobody's claiming that Tiger had a better year than Jordan.

Good point.
There are a few stories going on in professional golf that are of particular interest to golf fans, and even non-golfing sports fans, and then there is Tiger's story, which face it, goes even beyond the realm of sports. The meteoric rise and fall of Tiger Woods, and the interest around whether or not he'll rise again is a story unto itself, separate from the interest in who wins any particular tournament, even a major.

Tiger is more than just a golfer, he's a Greek Tragedy unfolding before our eyes. Or, in the modern lexicon, "like a real live reality show".

FORE RIGHT!!!!

Tigers back is definitely tight. He's got to grit it out the rest of the way. He's a faker though. He clearly is faking it so he can WD.

Sigh.
