The unfortunate thing with Tiger is that be needs tournament rounds and that's not happening for at least two months and most likely not before December.
That would be his own choice. He's got options in October and November for "next season" (how stupid...). If he chooses not to play, his "I need more reps" while true, will seem a bit odd.

If you need more reps, go get more reps!

That's why I said two months. I can see him tee it up in late October for one tournament. The tour is shut down for him until October.

It was the "not before December" part to which I was referring.

Ha!

Just goes to show. Keep your head in the game and keep working.

Red shirt, big galleries. Biiiig galleries. Good for TW to see and feel that vibe.

Not the ultimate result. Big choke, no question.

But the haters and fanbois alike raised an eyebrow this weekend.

He was there on Sunday.

Wonder how much extra money the GGO made with Tiger playing this week? Had to be significant amount.
I heard somebody on CBS say that they sold an extra 50,000 tickets this year, and the cheapest ticket is 50 bucks. So at least $2.5 million.

I really wanted him to get into the playoffs, but a top ten is still encouraging. Not a very strong field, but he finished ahead of Martin Kaymer, and 11 shots ahead of Adam Scott, so it wasn't all stiffs, either.

The good news is that instead of looking like me on the course, he's now looking like Rickie Fowler --- in contention up to the last nine, and then four over for two holes to derail him. But Rickie has some good weeks, so there's no reason Tiger can't.

Tiger was two back going into today without any big names ahead of him and shot himself out of the tournament after 11 holes by completely shanking a chip, fatting a chip, and then taking 3 to get down after that.

At one point he was the only one in the last 20, I believe, that was over par on the day.

For what it's worth, I was rooting for him, but his fans who declared that he had his swagger back after Friday - it's as if they haven't watched him at all this year. There's a big difference between being a realist and being a "hater". Tiger has been absolutely awful this year. Dreadfully bad. I guess this week is a step in the right direction, but that complete debacle on 11 was atrocious.

I was at the Wyndham today and it was awesome. I've been to many tourneys, majors included and these were Major size galleries.

Awesome vibes and great crowds. I am sure Tiger loved the feeling having so many pushing with him on a Sunday with a chance. One silly mistake on the par 3 killed him. Without that triple bogey he is right there putting for the tie or win on 18. Wish he made it into the playoffs but it was cool to see DL3 finish it off for a victory. -17 is ridiculous and really only possible on a track like Sedgefield.

I hesitate to call that a silly mistake. It's not like he was going for a green on a par 5 he souldn't have. He completely shanked a chip and then fatted the next one.

Followed that up with a bogey. When he had completely shot himself out of the tournament, he made some pressure free birdies coming in.

Again, I was rooting for him, but that triple was incredibly bad. He wasn't "right there" with a chance to win it - he was completely out of the tournament after 12 holes.

It would have been cool if he had gotten into a playoff with DLIII. Tiger's first win, Vegas 1996, was by a playoff over Davis.

Congrats to DL3. Great tournament, great event for the city of Greensboro. The course was in beautiful shape and the tournament was an exciting end to the regular season. So much was on the line this week, often more than people realize. Congratulations to the 5 who worked their way inside the FedEx Cup playoffs via good playing this weekend. I am over the moon thrilled for one of them especially.

Just watched Tiger's triple bogey and that "shank" looked more like a thinly hit low spinner that unfortunately landed right on the collar and raced across the green. I expected something entirely different.
So glad I'm not the only one that saw it this way, that was definitely not a shank. No good angle from behind him but as close as it was to the pin while it was scooting by there is no way it was a shank, just a thin one. But "Tiger Shanks Chip" will get more clicks than "Tiger Thins Chip". It's all about the money

The second chip didn't look fat either, it just looked like he tried to bump it into the slope and miss judged it. I only saw it once briefly so I may be off but he didn't react like he just fatted and shanked two chips, he just seemed to accept the fact he hasn't had the tournament experience to play those shots.

Congrats to Love.

Disappointed in what happen to Tiger. I thought the last thing he would lose would be that under the gun pressure when he is leading or near the lead. It looks like he just needs to play in more tournaments and I hope he realises that too.
Maybe it's the last thing one gets back. First he had to heal, then he had to learn a new swing on the range, then take his game to a tournament. Then survive the cut, and maybe the next thing one gets back is keeping it together when the screws get tight on a relatively easy track with a relatively light field. If he can play some more tournaments and his body will hold together, he has a good chance to get thing lined up again by April.
This season is shot for him, but he made some progress since he was WDing at Torrey.
He has a lot of opportunities to play golf between now and the 2nd weekend in April.
If he wants to, and if he can.

I'm not saying he will ever win again. I don't know. But he's made more progress since Torrey Pines than I thought he ever would.

Great job by DLII !!!!

Tiger's green side chipping looks like a weekend hack trying to help the ball in the air, then trying to hit down the next attempt and chunking it.

He Monte, send Tiger a free copy of your short game video, this is exactly what he needs. :)

Seriously it's like he doesn't know whether to hit down on it with the leading edge or sweep it shallow with the bounce. You gotta commit to which way you are going to do it. See it all the time at the local muni on Sunday's .

You're absolutely right, but at least it was just one hole this week. That's a vast improvement over the last several tournaments. I'll bet he'll be having nightmares about that one hole for quite a while.......
