I got mine today. 9.5 Fuji stiff. Brought it to the range with my G30 LS 9 tour 80, SLDR 10.5 black tie 8m3 and SLDR 8 speeder 57

I love everything about the M1, but I had a lot of trouble turning it over. I had to make a seriously unnatural move (for me) to get even a minimal draw. Even in the upright position and in the full draw setting, I was struggling to not fade it. All of the other drivers would duck hook with the same swing.

M1 is hot all over the face, easy to swing, sounds/feels fantastic and very long. It is nearly perfect for me - I need to figure out how to turn it over or start playing a fade if I'm going to game it.

If you struggle with low left hooks, then this is the driver for you.
Just go to the upright setting and you are 4 degrees upright. Approx 60* lie angle
Still not working for me. I had another range session last night. Same swing for all drivers.
-M1 setup with 2* closed face and in full draw setting: Still gave me mostly fades (some big)
-G30 LS goes mostly straight, but will draw or fade slightly depending on where the face contact is
-SLDR is always a draw at minimum (sometimes too much)

I'll try a different shaft next, but as of right now, the G30LS is staying in the bag
Oddly enough i hit the 8.5 with 2* lower loft adjustment which apparently opens up the clubface even more gave me slight fade at most

Didn't have any trouble and i think i have a upright swing. Also my natural shot shape is straight.

couple of questions for the guys who have some time hitting the M1 nad the numbers we are seeing about it .

Got to hit the M1 460 and 430 at Golfsmith the other day .

Not sure why but the 460 head seemed to be not as good of a fit with more spin and less ballspeed, not really noticably better in dispersion.

Took my R11 tour head which is 10 degrees loft, 2 degrees open and set at .5 degrees less loft, ( which I normally play it at ) and compared to both M1 heads.

Prefer the shaft in my curent set up as it was a lot tighter shot pattern but with the 9.5 head off the rack are these lofts going to be a lot higher like they used to be ?

The 10.5 was too much spin for me for sure .

Did not think about it unitl after I left that I should have put my shaft in an M1 head and compared them side by side in the same shaft ( was getting close to closing time for Golfsmith we were the last ones in there )

If it had an R11 tip, you couldn't have done it anyway.

I went back for a second try, and my miss was just like yours. The fitter dropped me down to a 9.5 head, changed the adapter to "upright" and set it at 11*. It straightened her right out. Got some better numbers than before and the flight was about perfect, but at the end of the day, I was getting a whopping 3-6 yards more than my G30, and more importantly having to really concentrate on my swing. With the G30, I grab it, stick a tee in the ground to tee 1 up, and just swing. I'm not giving that up for consistency and a few yards.

OK, well thanks for clearing up the fact that the R11 tip would not fit the M1 head, guess my comparison was as close as I could get then.

Is the upright setting just for taller player? Also, is the loft of the driver 9.5 in the upright setting?
How do you set it upright? I don't remember fitter doing anything with the driver other than changing the loft, trajectory slider, and providing different shafts

It's a setting on the tip/adapter. Loosen the shaft up and pull it out, should be opposite of the standard loft setting.

in the Upright setting you can also go 2 extra notches up in loft but going up in loft will close the face angle.
Playing mine at upright lie and 1 notch up in loft and that took care of the fade bias I was initially experiencing.

Interesting to see Jimmy Walker using the M1 fairway. According to Announcers, he's hitting it forever off the tee

Not watching but is it both driver and fairway?

I have had the M1 for 2 weeks now. I got a shaft to mirror my G30 and can say that this club head spins less than my old sldr 430. My launch when adjusted up 2 clicks to 10.5 with the head sliding weight in neutral + high launce was getting 16.5 with 1400-1900 spin.

When I am swinging well I generally can get the ball out between 265 to 280 with a 108 SS (Trackman fitting) on my G30 but I had a few on the LM with the M1 that went 290 with the launch stats above and a 104-105 chs. Granted it was a GC2 so the club speed I believe is calculated, not measured like trackman.

If I can get my driving back to reasonable this will be a very long club, but my severity of snap hooks seems much worse with this than my G30.

It is a good club but you need to put a really good swing on it to unlock its true benefits.

One of the members at my course used his M1 and after one driving range session and one round on the course this is happening to the paint on the bottom. It isn't scratching at all it looks like the paint or however they color the black area is coming off

That doesn't look like the effects of contact with the ground as the wear would be in a front to back pattern... the look of that seems to indicate that a chemical got in contact with the head and stayed on there for some time. Thats my guess.

I don't believe that is a possibility. He took the wrapper off when he bought it and then played the next day. I don't think it is a coincidence that it is fading on the only part of the head that contact the grass and ground
its quite possible for a golf course to spray chemicals that could do this... however in all my years golfing i don't think i have ever seen that happen to a brand new driver... and doesn't look like fading... looks like peeling. It is definitely a unique occurrence. It also looks like tiny peel marks inside the weight track as well... would be nice to see more pics of the driver... Hate to ask as well but was it confirmed as a real TM driver?

My 430 (JDM) sldr did a similar thing but the pattern looked more like streaks from the lip to the slider weight, rather than the blotchy pattern you have there.

Yes definitely a legit driver, we got them straight from Taylormade. We are a Pro Shop. You can't feel anything on the fading it is just purely visible

I didn't buy the M1 because of increased length I bought it because early reviews said it was more forgiving than the SLDR which I have played since it came out. The M1 is finicky as it has taken me awhile to really get comfortable with it and the settings are the opposite of the SLDR. I kept my previous shaft (Rogue 125) as I really like it and didn't want to go through a new learning curve.

Initially I struggled with the M1 due to the weight. Some old fashioned lead tape in the rear channel fixed that but I was missing MUCH more to the right than the SLDR. SLDR was 10.5 set wide open but to me the m1 has a right bias so I did the unthinkable, for me anyway. I closed it a couple of clicks and set the front weight almost all the way yo draw. Funny thing is it doesn't look closed and the results for me were eye opening. After 54 holes there is no concern with going left and I have the confidence to set up down the middle and let it go. Really wants to go straight unless I put a bad move on it. Really looking forward to playing with it some more but the end of the season is on us so we'll see. Ymmv but I couldn't be happier.

I just got back from playing a fall scramble up in foxford hills in IL, cool breezy 20 mph windy wet day, and I won the long drive hole against 116 players. And the M1 just continues to step up to the plate and bomb it. The hole was into the wind so keeping the trajectory a little lower helped me out. I only have 110 swing speed so I was surprised that hit held up.
I preordered my M1 and have had it in my hands before the release date. So I have hit probably over 700 balls with it and I see no apparent cosmetic issues. I see the pics from some of you and I definetly feel fortunate I am not witnessing any issues.
That doesn't look like the effects of contact with the ground as the wear would be in a front to back pattern... the look of that seems to indicate that a chemial got in contact with the head and stayed on there for some time.
Yes definitely a legit driver, we got them straight from Taylormade. We are a Pro Shop. You can't feel anything on the fading it is just purely visible
And the two white areas in the pic left of the "fade" in the slider... those would be hard to explain as possible contact with ground areas? Looks odd to me that there would be faded or peeling areas there.

Could it be certain heads having more issues than others? Anyone with 460 8.5 with issues?

That's cool, how long was the drive?

Also, which shaft did you go with?
One of the members at my course used his M1 and after one driving range session and one round on the course this is happening to the paint on the bottom. It isn't scratching at all it looks like the paint or however they color the black area is coming off

I've been to the range and course plenty of times with my M1 and besides the bulge on top the paint on the bottom is like new. Maybe it has something to do with the pesticide that's sprayed on the course. I don't take a divot with my driver either. :)

This is a fertilizer burn/stain/damage. Same thing happened to my gianini putter.

New Bag in the making...

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
